We stayed here with our 4 month old and really enjoyed it. Didn't realise it would be Churchill themed, but it was great. The room was small but very nice. Again 40s themed. The location is great, only a 5 minute walk to the Minster and all the shops, bars and restaurants. We didn't eat in as we like to...

The location of this hotel is ideal, perfect for exploring York. When we arrived, the staff could not be more helpful, offering suggestions for where to eat. The bar area was lovely and cosy with a great wine selection and quirky seating area, it really felt special. The rooms were a tad on the small side with poor lighting which...

We visited in August, I asked if would be possible for us to have a mini fridge in the room to store expressed milk in, was told no BUT we could keep it in the chefs fridge. Absoloutly outstanding staff, gorgeous rooms and comfortable beds. Can't wait to go back.

I stayed here with a colleague last week and found it both charming and infuriating at the same time. For example, the rooms are nicely appointed, but very small and, if you draw the short(ish) straw, you'll be next to the local railway. Parking is a challenge, especially when then GM decides to cone off a space because it happens...

Dear Damian, Thank you for your review. We are indeed next to the York to Scarborough railway line and it passes by in a cutting, it does not generally cause us any problems because the trains only run hourly and not overnight. Our wheeled rubbish bins were taking up a car parking space overnight on the day that you stayed,...

Our room decor was lovely. We had just enough room to walk around the bed and put our suit cases on the floor. We had a very large closet across from the bathroom. The breakfast rooms are large and very nice. Our orders were not taken in the order of our arrival in the room. The waitresses had a little...

Dear Jo H, We are glad you enjoyed your visit to our hotel. York is generally a pretty safe place although it's also got a lively nightlife for those who want it but our immediate vicinity and nearest pubs are generally quiet , it's a shame that someone's misbehaviour has portrayed the city in a bad light for you. Regards...

My wife and I try to escape to York at least once a year if not twice, all be it only for a long weekend. The prices of the different hotels we have used in the past have slowly but surely increased over the last 5 years. Ranging from £80 per night for a double room increasing to £140 per...

Dear Romeroy, We are glad that you liked the hotel and staff. You did indeed book a good total price of £172 to stay for a Saturday and Sunday nights which undercut the majority of hotel's in York but I thought that I should respond with some clarification: We try to offer as many choices to people when booking as...

Reception and service staff were responsive, interested, friendly and helpful - particularly the reception manager on our second day, who was very quick to respond. This mitigated the quite significant problems we encountered with our accommodation - particularly: There was no phone in the room when we arrived and subsequently when a phone was provided, there was no serviceable phone...

Dear JPDH52, Many thanks for your very fair review, of course a three star review listing some problems is not what we aspire to but we very much welcome your considered and just appraisal. Of inconvenience to some but also unnoticed by other guests we have indeed had problems with our water supply over the week-end. It was an electrical...

Very nice hotel and tastefully decorated, we got the room we requested which was nice and was given choice of two, everything we needed in the room and was very comfortable. If I had to pick fault it would be the noise as we where under the bar but with tv on that put end to that and room was...

Stayed here on business with a party of 12 and had a evening meal. The surroundings are nice not great and the place is very clean. The room was adequate and typical of this type of hotel, more character than luxury. One problem is the parking there simply isn't enough room. The staff are pleasant albeit a few checking out...

Had a 2 day special offer stay. Hotel is about 10 min walk into town. Our room was not very big but it was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was quite modern, good bath and shower, plenty of towels and the complimentary toiletries were lovely. The bed was a double, slept well both nights. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits supplied....
