Welcome to The Grand, York's first and only AA five-star rated hotel. This stunning hotel opened in May 2010 following the extensive refurbishment of the former North Eastern Railway headquarters – one of York’s most iconic Edwardian buildings. I would like to also thank you for choosing The Grand Hotel, however it is disappointing that we did not quite reach your expectations this time around. I would like to sincerely apologise for any upset caused during your stay, as I believe that our usual 5 star standards were not fully reflected on your stay and I can understand why you may feel disheartened regarding certain elements of your stay. My team are passionate about providing the best guest experience possible and I can assure you that no one in the team wanted you to have an unpleasant stay with us. Communication is key and we must always handle any issues with care, therefore your feedback regarding maintenance issues has been recorded and our Reception team are always on hand 24/7 and happy to assist you. No extra charges...plus they put your bags in for you! I don't know why people are saying car park is next door....there isn't one?? all car parks about 10 mins walk? Tanner Row is closest at £24.00 for 1 night ...and then you have to walk? let em park it for you!! :-)

We parked just to the side of the entrance as advised when we pulled up. Keys were given to the valet and they moved the car and parked it. When we check out it was brought back to the front for us.

There was canapes wine beer and prosecco and some spirits and mixers available between 6pm to 9pm, staff were very helpful and you can help yourself
