We had a long weekend in York mainly to visit the races. We found the Old Vic to be in a great location both for the racecourse and the lovely city centre. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly and so is their dog Leo. We were very happy with the room and it had everything we needed. The traditional...

Lovely and clean guest house with interesting period features in the house. Its close enough a lovely walk along the river into the city. The owners are very friendly and there is a cracking breakfast served albeit a little early for some being 8-9am. Its in a very quiet and peaceful location with free on street parking.

Stayed for 2 nights in April. Was in room 9 which was a little on the small side but really nice, shower room was a bit "snug" lol. May not be good for people with walking difficulties as there weren't any lifts and as far as I was aware there were no ground floor rooms. Very clean, full English breakfast...

We passed five quiet nights at the Old Vic. We enjoyed the riverside stroll (15 mins) into York, and quickly accessed the ring road for exploring further afield. We enjoyed a good breakfast, the pleasant room, and the friendly hosts (not forgetting Leo - sadly no leftovers from us!). We intend to return.

I booked a nights stay at the Old Vic purely based on reviews I read on Trip Advisor. The Old Vic was the perfect place for us to stay and we will definitely be returning to see Julie & Terry who were excellent hosts. We arrived early and allowed access to the room as it was ready for occupancy which...

We have just returned from our first visit to York for a weekend. We booked a nights stay at the Old Vic based on reviews we had seen on Trip Advisor. We tend to prefer staying at guest houses rather than an anodyne Travel Inn or similar as we prefer a more personal and characterful place to stay. The Old...

A warmly welcoming b&b in a large terraced house not far from the Millenium Bridge over the Ouse, a 15-20 minutes brisk walk, or a brief bus ride, from the centre of York. Excellent traditional cooked English breakfast. Clean and comfortable. My single room was just big enough and I struggled to get evenly warm water from the shower, but...
