Although the place was really busy when we visited - I'm not sure I understand why? Squashed in like sardines on really uncomfortable church pew seats. No reason to want to linger but perhaps that was the idea? The food was distinctly average and set firmly in the chicken in a basket era. There was a shortage of wine glasses...

Had a drink in the afternoon, great selection of beer, wine, whisky, gins....... Didn't eat, but food looked very good. Lovely atmosphere, great views over harbour. A real mix of people. It has accommodation, which would be great for a short stay on the coast 👍

We visited this pub during a four day visit to Whitby. The location has unrivalled views across the harbour and the North Sea. The food was good quality, reasonably priced and served by pleasant staff. We spent a most pleasant afternoon, would certainly visit again.

Good food Good Beer Bags of character. The Duke of York is thankfully no identikit pub/restaurant. We had planned our visit on the last day of holiday for a meal. Our family consisted 2xAdults 2x6 year olds. The pub was busy, but I was served quickly at the bar and the food arrived within minutes. The child portions are a...

We visited today to get out of the cold. Two glasses of red wine and we browsed the menu looking for a gluten free option. The manager talked us through the lovely standard menu explaining how she could create several lovely and filling dishes. The manager was only too happy to warm my babies milk. The atmosphere was friendly and...

Went in here over Christmas, had a lovely meal with a couple of pints. We sat overlooking the harbour which was very pleasant. The staff were very friendly too. Well worth a visit when you are here in whitby. Looked a round at some of the other meals that people had and looked very nice. All in all very good.

Although part of pub ....the rooms are accessed outside. Beautiful view over harbour. Clean and well stocked biscuit and tea/coffee tray. Plenty of places nearby for breakfast. only drawback is that no parking on site - public carp park few hundred yards away.

A really good find - comfortable room at a budget price, with amazing views straight into Whitby harbour. Very quiet, great night's sleep. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. Shower not the best, but overall would recommend this accommodation.

God so disappointed, it's dirty and needs a new lick of paint , very grubby it really needs the seats re-covering, walls need re painting. Must admit the food still looked amazing. Always came here when we visited Whitby, but so disappointed
