Stopped here with family over the weekend. Very dated hotel, really does need some decorating done, hallways are very grubby, I appreciate it's an old hotel but it wouldn't hurt to sort the decorating out. Bedrooms where clean and tidy, again very dated and a TV from the 1980's that was tiny. Beds where very comfy, I couldn't get the...

We have just stayed here on a coach trip. Mike our driver was lovely and very knowledgable and being Whitby man himself was able to give us a lot of information about the area. When we arrived the service was fantastic. Your cases are put outside your room for you from the coach. We were very disappointed when we saw...

we stayed on a 5 day break with Shearings, early September 2015. The hotels prominent position overlooking the town and Coast, is excellent for those who wish to spend time just sitting and taking in the views, however, its cliff top position does make for a slightly strenuous climb back up from the town. The hotel has an air of tired...

The Royal does need some attention to some rooms, people in our group were getting rain coming through the windows and not much of a response from the reception desk. The food was varied daily and well cooked, it was strange to have potatoes and two veg with every main meal including salad and curries. The restaurant staff were very...

I’m sorry to see you were disappointed with aspects of your stay. I have discussed your complaints regarding the food with my chef as I did at the weekend and whilst I appreciate there was an issue, temperature checks were carried out on the replacement meal and in no way could that be described as cold. I wish you luck...

The Royal Hotel Whitby is in a superb location with wonderful views particularly if you pay extra for a sea view. Our room had recently been refurbished to a good standard, it was very clean and also very spacious. Most of the main public rooms are nicely decorated and much of the old very gracious architecture/fittings have been retained. However...

Had a two night stay at the Royal nice hotel great location on cliff food good , drinks a bit pricey nice room the only problem we found was the lift only holds 4 people this is poor for the size of the hotel. Town tour bus good value at £4 for 24 hours and stops right outside the hotel.
