'We seek to encourage community whilst respecting the individuals privacy' Perhaps this explains the affection and loyalty which regular visitors feel for the Penn Club. It is without doubt a special place, and one to which we choose to return whenever we are in London. It is well managed, spotless, comfortable, and quietly welcoming. We arrive and relax knowing that...

I adore the Penn Club. I stayed for ten days in late September and have just made reservations to stay again in May. The location is amazing, particularly if you are visiting a student attending University in the Bloomsbury area, as I was. Several tube stations are in easy walking distance and there are plenty of nearby bus stops. I...

I have stayed at the Penn Club several times over the past few years. Each time I am happy with the value -- rooms are clean, staff are friendly, breakfast is good, and the location is great. I stay here every time I come to London.

What a wonderful find in London. We were so happy we stumbled upon the Penn Club. An oasis of calm, wonderful fellow guests to chat to. We had an ensuite bathroom on the first floor. Receptionist helped us carry our large bags to our room. Breakfast a great way to start the day, easy walk to tube station and many...

There was a feeling of calm about this place. We had a double with ensuite: it was not huge bit everything we needed was there, above all peace and quiet! The breakfast was really good, and cooked to order. All the staff with whom we came into contact were friendly and pleasant. The location is outstanding. We'll be back anon!

Quakers believe in living simply and here we find a good example of faith in practice. The Penn club is clean, comfortable and functional. Nothing is frivolous, but what there is is adequate and of substance. The quality of the bedroom curtains is one example, made to last and interlined with bump for thermal efficiency, the English breakfast is another...good...

If you want a cheap room, clean and simple with an included breakfast you will enjoy the Penn Club. It is loosely associated with the Quakers. The people who stay tend to be elderly who enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Breakfast is a hardy one and a guest is easily drawn into conversation with the other travelers. Tea and coffee is...

Be careful as the Penn club won't suit everyone. If you are a traveller or visitor of a certain age then you will enjoy your stay. Single ladies will feel secure, and the other guests are delightful. I love the friendship and conversation at breakfast particularly. For a solo traveller it is a calm and gentle place to stay. Location...

I cannot fault neither the location or the simplicity. Yes, the rooms are basic, but the accommodation was fine. The stairs are a little problematic if travelling with large cases, but London is the city of stairs, so you get used to it. The breakfast provided was exceptional. Although not a fan of American style drip stewed coffee, the blend...

The hotel reflects the Quaker ethos, the rooms being simple, and the shared bathroom/toilet is pretty basic. The breakfast was ample and delicious, a good start to the day. In a good area for London attractions.

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
