Very clean comfortable beds, very pleasant staff, great location. However, after several visits, which are always enjoyable, we thought that the hotel needed a little TLC: electrical sockets loose; corridor carpets disgusting; wobbly lamps. We realise that the market is for marauding children, but it does need a tiny upgrade, lick of paint perhaps?

Myself, my husband and our two children (2 and 4 years old) stayed here in a Family Room (four person dorm really) for three nights. We booked via the hostel website. We loved our stay here at Meininger. This hostel was a great find and I'd definitely recommend staying here if you have a young family. And would try other...

Upon arrival I did not have photo ID with me and when I asked if my daughters would suffice they replied " yes this one time we will accept however even British must have photo ID" they did not exactly treat us with dignity! Room; bigger toilets on aeroplane, no plug in sink, no lamp, plug socket not working, fire...

The staff at this clean, warm, comfortable location are excellent, as are most of the guests as opposed to some hostels where the norm is to ignore. It is a popular, bust destination where you will be warmly greeted and there is always something going on. Ideally situated for tourist spots, easy walking to the Natural History and V &...

it's my first time in London, England. a cold visit but was welcomed warmly by the staff of the hotel. it was a pleasant stay, the rooms are clean and so are the common bathrooms and toilets. Public transport links to lots of places around London and of course, you can bike 🚲 it around the city as there is...

We stayed here during half term; 2 adults and 4 children under 11. You really can't get better value. If all you want to do is put your head down, eat (a great) breakfast and explore London I'd highly recommend. For what we paid, you couldn't expect anything more.

I love this Hostel. It is in a fantastic location. Very close to central London and the location is safe. The price is very good considering its in central London. Most rooms are very good for hostel standards!

Highly disappointed with the accomodation. Only the 12 bed ensuite rooms were good with clean toilets! The 4 & 8 bed ensuite dorms were cramped and have horrible toilets/bath. The toilets were old and smell, badly in need of refurbishing! Even if you book the 12 bed ensuite, there is no guarantee you will get that since they very often...

The service was good on arrival we were greeted and asked to wait in the cafe/bar area as they had their staff change over, we were offered tea/coffee to enjoy whilst we waited. We were then promptly collected ten minutes later and checked in smoothly, they explained how the hostel worked and where our room was. It was all very...

I realize that this place used to be hostel before. But now when you call yourself a hotel you should do service like a hotel. The room was clean but the bathroom was very small. The location was good, not far from central London. The clean up room service was very poor. no change for a towel and the rubbish...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
