What people have to remember is this is a three-star property. We spent two nights here in room 5 which overlooks the main road. The room has secondary glazing which stops the traffic noise. The room was excellent and had everything you could want including a fridge, microwave, coffee/tea, air con. The building is a superb very tall town house and has so much character which includes squeaky floorboards, high ceilings and lovely old fashioned original fireplaces. Close by there are many local shops, bars and eateries which was excellent. We had full English breakfast which was alright and set us up for the day. The breakfast area is quite compact, so you have to book breakfast in advance and what you would like as well. On our first morning we needed to be in Greenwich by 10 and wanted breakfast early. The earliest we could get was 08:30 as slots had been taken. They offered breakfast in our room at no extra charge at 07:30 which was perfect. The food arrived on time and was really very good. Small issues like no salt/pepper or milk with the tea were a negative. The staff here are very friendly and efficient. Check in and out was very easy and we really have no complaints or concerns. Some people will find this place very difficult to negotiate as there are no lifts if you require them. There is also no porter, and you will have to carry your bags to your room yourself which is not a problem to us but maybe for others. We would certainly stay here again the next time we are in this area of London and would highly recommend.…
The Regency is in a tall old townhouse. The ceilings are high, which means a lot of stairs have to be climbed, and there are 4 floors including what was clearly the servants quarters on the top floor. That will be a problem for some. The double beds are 2 singles laid side by side on 2 single box springs laid the other way. It worked but barely and the bed was very hard - good for those who like to feel they are sleeping on the floor. Because I was on the top floor, I found it quite quiet although I was aware of the floor squeaking everytime I walked. Sorry people below me! The bathroom was surprisingly large and very clean. The room had a microwave and small fridge with freezer. I was offered breakfast in my room, which was great but limited my choice of food and came with no salt, pepper, etc which were no doubt on the tables in the dining room. Definitely a room for one person. The hidden garden in the back is a gem and I highly recommend people check it out.…
The good: Good location in a nice area, kept clean, staff was helpful The bad: No elevator, squeaky floors, spartan breakfast, tiny room and bed, surfaces are worn. Nice garden, but very unkept. Sound from other rooms carry extremely well. Staff gone after 7 pm
Great location, friendly welcoming staff, clean room and a good hearty breakfast included what more could you want!! For a 3 star London hotel this is for sure one of the better ones we have stayed at, would 100% book again. We arrived 2 hours early and our rooms where ready. Rooms were a little dated but bathrooms have been upgraded to a good standard. I would say great for a weekend in London probs not for a week. Very quiet for central London great night sleep had by all … good quality mattress.
Great location, close to Euston and Goodge St tube station. Staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast included in the price. Good value for money if you want something basic in the city.
Reasonably priced, not too far from the action, quiet and clean. Our multiple occupancy room served its purpose, dated but with crisp clean linen, nice towels and a functioning but bijou en suite. Brusque, inflexible service from the receptionist didn't set the tone well. Thankfully we laughed it off and buckled in for a Fawlty Towers experience. As others have said, a tired but cheap hotel, you can't have it all. I feel strongly that a health and safety overhaul is needed however; 2nd floor windows that open fully above a knee height window ledge with a drop to concrete below were a death trap. Also sacks of linen stored in the narrow hallway overnight would obstruct guests' escape in the event of a fire. We won't be back.
Very nice welcome from Miro. I was able to leave my luggage and even change a shirt arriving early before my meetings that very day in London. Very spacious three bedroom nicely refurbished with fresh wallpaper. The room is clean, very well equipped, comfortable beds. Plates glasses bowls cups, microwave, and a refridgerator with a freezer. A small TV and a comfortable writing desk which is quite important if you’re here on business. Modern fireproof doors with good quality secure locks you get a key to the entrance which means you can access basically at all hours. The windows go out to the back courtyard which is very quiet and allows for uninterrupted work when necessary. The bathroom is clean with a shower and toiletries: body wash, body lotion, mending kit and even a shaving kit provided! Good sets of towels good water pressure The only weak point for summer is no air conditioning but this is the norm for London hotels of this type. Near University College London - so rather gentrified area for Camden ;) A excellent Waterstones (4 floors !) just across the street. In general, warmly reccomended. …
My husband and I spent four nights at this hotel and we were very pleased with the quality of our stay. Miro, the friendly front desk manager, was extremely kind, helpful, and he ensured that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Knowing that our room would be small, we were pleased to find efficient use of the space with amenities such as a microwave and a refrigerator, which made our stay extremely pleasurable. The ladies who doubled as the kitchen staff and housekeeping were the most hospitable and professional. Our free breakfasts were perfect every morning and our room was consistently cleaned well and put back together the way we wanted. The tip we gave them, upon leaving, gave them a big smile and they made our stay most enjoyable. The hotel is very convenient to the tube stations and there are many shops and stores nearby for anything you could need. We loved our stay and based upon the cost, we got our money's worth for the great stay we had. THANKS to everyone at the Regency House Hotel from Bill and Paul!…
We had an overnight stay for a theatre trip. First impressions were a tad disappointing. The hotel proprietors could do with sprucing up the window boxes, which had traces of dated artificial flowers in them. It would give the place more kerb appeal. The reception was a tiny area at the back of the ground floor. The rear garden, which could have been a real feature, was under construction and from the look of the debris around, has been in that state for sometime. The entrance hall was dated but clean and again our room was dated but clean and a new toilet, sink and shower cubicle had been fitted which was a bonus. There was no plug point near the mirrors in the room which meant it was difficult for drying and styling hair. Breakfast was basic but nicely cooked. We had to ask for milk, were not offered ketchup or brown sauce and even on asking non was forthcoming. The salt and pepper was passed around the tables as there was only one set out and disappointingly there was no jam or marmalade either. On a positive note the hotel is in an area that felt safe, conveniently situated for train and tube stations, the British museum and the theatres. We got a good night's sleep.…
The hotel is a short walk from St Pancras Station and King's Cross. Excellently Central for the West End shows and great shopping. The hotel is very nice inside and the staff were very helpful as we arrived early and asked to leave our bags so we could go for a walk before check in opened. They said this was fine and our bags were safe until we returned. Upon returning to check in we were told the only slot left for Breakfast (bare in mind this was only 20mins past 2- check in opens at 2) was at 8oclock. A little too early for my husband and I but we took it as it was the only alot available. We were given room 15. There are alot of a stairs in this property so if you have difficulty I'd suggest asking before hand for a lower room. We ended up at the very top of the house. We paid extra on booking.com for a Garden View room, which turned out to be more of a sky view room which was dissappinting. The room was lovely and spacious, nice and warm and comfortable. The bathroom was quite small but functioned OK. My husband is 6ft tall and struggled with the fixed shower head in the shower. Our nights sleep wasn't great either, the mattress dipped outwards and was very lumpy and uncomfortable. The hotel was lovely and quiet in itself and we hardly heard any other guests. Breakfast was disappointing. Very small portion of beans, hardly a teaspoon and 2 very tiny mushrooms. Sausages were very generic ones and nothing to write home about. The only thing cooked beautifully was the egg. Other than the location of the of the room, mattress, and breakfast, the stay was nice and practical for what we wanted to see the shows we'd booked.…
