Staying for one night to catch the morning Eurostar. This is a functional hotel and doesn't pretend to be anything else. There's no breakfast, no prints on the walls, not even a spoon to stir your morning Tetley, but the sheets were clean, the shower was hot, and the staff were friendly. You can literally see St Pancras station from the window. I'd come again. It's perfect for a cheap stay over when catching an early train.

The Carlton Hotel is far from luxurious, but it has a lift, a shower a bed, a chair and a close approximation of a work desk. All for less than £100 and within five minutes walk of Kings Cross station. I would unhesitatingly recommend it.

Positive is that it is very close to Kings Cross, that is where the positive ends! My upgraded room was small, stuffy and dirty. No internal locks on doors, spoke to lobby only to be told it will be fine. Nothings ever happened here, plus we challenge everyone who walks in, except the 4 customers who weren’t whilst I was stood there. Requested a room with an internal lock. “Sorry, you’ll need to speak to my manager” no problem, got the run down on how no hotels in this area have internal locks and spoken to poorly. Request a change of room again and told no. So went to another hotel round the corner. Thankfully that had an internal lock as well as key card entrance. If you’re looking for cheap, borderline unsafe and dingey this is your place. I will never set foot near it again! Awful experience.

AVOID! All of the below issues were brought to the attention of the Hotel staff but nothing was done. 1) There was no lift (lift was broken) so we had to carry our heavy luggage up 4 narrow flights of stairs. We were advised that the lifts were only recently broken however I see on other Google reviews that this has happened on different occasions before . Food scapes were left on the ground which could have resulted in slipping on the mess ( see photo) 2) There was a noisy humming sound in our room which went on & off at random times during the day & night which made it hard to sleep. 3) The shower had barely any running water. It was barely a trickle which made washing hair impossible and having a shower not good. I tried to adjust the pressure but it barely made any difference. 4) There was no fridge in the room although a fridge was advertised ( see the Hotel’s web page) 5) The room was very hot and stuffy. Some air-conditioning would have worked wonders. The cheap plastic fan didn’t help much. I complained to management but they claimed I had nothing to complain about NEVER AGAIN , We paid good money to stay here. The Carlton Hotel needs to lift its game

A very acceptable hotel for a short stay. Room small but you aren't in there for long and you have all you need. The room, in the annexe along the road, was quiet and bed comfortable. Excellent location a few minutes from Kings Cross and St Pancras stations and ideal for an early Eurostar. Breakfasts are not available but Wetherspoons St Pancras and other cafes are available locally, also a Sainsbury's not far away for fresh croissants etc if needed. Staff pleasant and helpful. it is not The Savoy or one of the top hotels, so don't expect the facilities they can offer and conversely the prices they can charge. It is an unpretentious local hotel very handily placed for transport links and hence has easy access to most areas of the city centre.

Just spent a weekend in London staying at the Carlton Hotel. For us, it was a perfect location, not far from King's Cross. Yes the rooms are small, but as a couple we was off sight seeing and needed somewhere to sleep. It was clean and tidy. We was allowed to check in early. It can be noisy, but London is noisy. I read someone say about the homeless outside, sadly there is homeless people all over London. They never bothered us Thank you very much Carlton Hotel. We did enjoy our stay

I needed to have done my homework here as I took this place at face value and it was cheap but we’ll come to that in a minute. The hotel itself is easy to find and the receptionist was pleasant enough upon our arrival although our room wasn’t quite ready 10 minutes before the appointed time “could you come back in an hour”. We left our bags and went for a drink, plenty of pubs in the area I’m pleased to say. We nipped back for our room key as instructed and were guided to one of the houses on the street. (One of the quieter rooms). Our room was disappointing, too small for our needs, I’m sure 2 hobbits from the Shire might have appreciated it more. The room was stifling in the heat so we had to have the window open all night with the ceiling fan on warp factor 10 constantly. The noise from the street below is constant and goes on all night and into the morning so getting to sleep was difficult. We did hear death threats one night and nearly called the police. We heard music being played, fighting, shouting, arguing and bottles being smashed and drug deals going down. There was hazard tape across the entrance to one of houses so who knows what’s gone off. Would avoid like the plague on steroids and we would certainly not be going back. One final point if you’re not taking my advice, take a pair of binoculars for the smallest TV money can buy!

Couldn’t make my mind wether to go for 2 or 3 stars. As the saying goes “pay peanuts get monkeys” . Stayed here one night as early departure from Eurostar next morning. We got a top floor attic room . It was comical, you had to have the window open as room was stuffy however the street noise was ridiculous. I would imagine in the era pre kings cross current glory days, places like this were probably renting by the hour. Pros : close to Eurostar , not expensive, quite clean Cons : stuffy , small rooms and noisy (street noise)
