The California is a charming, modern and quirky bed and breakfast, less than a minute's walk away from King's Cross and St. Pancras stations. Our 60 stylishly refurbished rooms, each one cosy and comfortable, are spread over four Georgian townhouses, and we've retained as much of the original architecture as possible; our windows, corridors and staircases are all original. This means that we don't have a lift, but we do keep our reception open 24 hours a day. We have high speed WiFi is throughout the hotel and have a fantastic little bar, lounge and private terrace for our guests to enjoy. We serve a great breakfast. Welcome to The California London. My single room was rather small, but not a problem at all. Clean, quiet, and well located. I would stay there again, but probably not when I am traveling with my wife, we would need more room. For single travelers, it's perfect - or if you don't need a lot of space.

Hi, our overnight stay was very good. The room was comfortable and clean but also quite small (it is hard to pass between the entrance door and the window because of the bed). The location is strategic for getting around the city.

We stayed one night and it was great. Good staff and nice rooms. We were able to leave our bags on the day we left behind the reception which was so helpful. Only complaint was the room got quite warm and we felt it took a long time to cool it down even with the window open, so a fan or some air conditioning would have been good, but thats only a minor thing when you compare it to how good the staff, room, and facilities were.

The reception team gave a really warm welcome on arrival and were friendly leaving. The hotel room was clean, modern and light. Beds comfortable. Quiet. Good value for money. We stayed in the family room. We didn't stop for breakfast.

I will definitely stay here again. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed, clean & very comfortable. The location is perfect, close to the train station and the entrance to the underground. I sent a message to the hotel prior to booking in to ask if I could leave a bag with reception prior to and after my stay, the staff were aware of this when I arrived. In fact, I was able to check-in early so I had no need to leave the bag. A little gem of a hotel.

I would recommend this hotel. There were a few hiccups, but none of these detracted from my overall experience. The woman at the front desk when we arrived was not particularly friendly. When we got to the room, the bed wasn’t as clean as it should have been. We went back to the desk to request a room change and the new staff there were extremely friendly and helpful. They gave us a new room, which was bright and clean and comfortable. They also gave us good recommendations for dinner late at night. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. A few pros and cons - Pros: Very friendly staff (mostly) Quick pastry and coffee in the morning for 5quid Comfortable bed Clean Responsive to complaints Close to Kings Cross with lots of tube lines Cons: The floors are creaky (but this didn’t keep me up or bother me) Not many places to eat in the morning Limited food options in the area No phone in the room (if you need the desk, you have to call the hotel #) …

I have stayed in this hotel on a few occasions now when coming to London. The location is good for reaching all parts of London. Friendly, helpful staff, competitively priced, clean, comfortable sized rooms & bathroom. I would recommend to others & I will return the next time I am in London.

This place is very great : the room, the location, people working there...it was perfect ! Near center of London (10/15min) with the metro next to the hotel, many restaurants next to the hotel too. The hotel is clean, enjoyable, so i recommend !
