The outside was the first part of the drab experience and the unfriendly welcome but the receptionist were the first parts of a pretty unpleasent stay. The decor is in need of some serious TLC as are the peeling carpets off the floor. The whole basement section could do with fumigating to get rid of the damp musky smell too.... More

I book hotels on behalf of my clients for when they require overnight stays in the UK and to be honest, if we haven't already stayed there before, we go off a combination of location, availability, budget and reviews. Luck also plays a part in our choice and in this instance, for the 5 people who stayed here on 16th... More

By far this was the worst hotel stay I have ever had. Ignore the threadbare carpets, outdated decoration which for one night I could live with. The matresses (All 3 of them) were beyond use and should have been replaced years ago. The table lamp of which there was one, wasn't even connected to the lamp. The en-suite was tiny,... More

Was truly awful, the whole place is shabbbyand dirty. I had a single room at the top and being an old building everything creaked when the person in the next room got up at 5am to shower, hardryer etc. The TV switched itself off if you changed chanel. On the second night I had either no water or cold water... More

After reading the less than favorable reviews on this site it was with much trepidation that I agreed to stay at Swinton on our recent 'lads weekend' to London. First impressions upon entering the reception area were that it was clean and welcoming enough although as other reviews have said it did smell somewhat of stale smoke. The staff at... More

Was better than I expected after reading some of the reviews. think it has been recently refurbed. It was very basic but there again it was very cheap for where it was. A good hour walk into central london 10 mins on bus ( buy an oyster card ) buses better than tube you see more but you can use... More

Had a couple of nights at the Swinton on business earlier this week, and while convenient for central London the Swinton offered very poor value in comparison to other hotels I would normally stay in. Bathroom clean enough, but that's the best I can say. Not unreminescent of a 1980's squat, and not in a good way. Never again!

Room was tiny but very clean, had a single room facing the street so quite noisy although I managed to get a good night sleep, staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plenty, again staff were very friendly and helpful, would stay here again.

It really ain't posh. Tiny room, even tinier bathroom, not easy to get your trousers off in there. The place is clean, though; staff is very friendly. The breakfast was only continental, well, quite frugal. But what would you expect from a hotel in central London, just a few minutes walk from St.Pancras and King's Cross. There are some hostels... I wanted somewhere clean (it was) for a short stay over in London. Single room had latest flat screen TV...what a bonus. There was water, tea and coffee making facilities. Its probably a 2 star property but at least its clean and I did feel safe. You want more for the money...think you are kidding yourselves! Probably would not stay... More
