The staff here are exceptional. While the rooms are typically London-smallish, and the light switches are a bit funky and hard to figure out at first, this is a great value and a great location: Just steps from the London Tube Aldgate station, so the whole city is just steps away. You can transfer to other lines, or Liverpool Street and Tower Hill are just a few blocks away, if that's better.

Each floor has a filtered water dispenser (necessary due to London's sort of Sulphur-ish odor.

If you can get a rate with included breakfast, you must do so. Breads, pastries, spreads, cereals, juices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, bacon, sausages, eggs (two kinds) beans, hashbrowns, cooked tomatoes are all laid out to start your day.

This hotel has a cool, funky vibe that is not stuffy business, but it's still appropriate for business travelers. If we go back to London, there is no doubt where we'll stay.

Honestly, the most incredible experience. I fly over to London a few times a year and this will now be my go to hotel and I will make sure all my friends and family know about it too!

To begin, the architecture of this building is a delight. I loved observing every aspect of detail and I was so mesmorised by how beautiful this building is- everything is so sleek and modern. An absolute delight!

Check In:
We had a super early flight and arrived at the hotel before check in time to see if we could just freshen up before heading out for the afternoon again. Although our room wasn’t ready ( we came super early!), we were allowed to use the transfer lounge which has a gym, shower facilities. I think it’s Francesco who checked us in and honestly, he could not have been more helpful. He is so good at his job! Nothing was a problem and he took the time to show us the facilities and answered any other questions we had! Thank you so much! Even the other staff were all so friendly and made time to talk to us and chat about our plans for the day. Checkin was super quick which was brilliant as in so many hotels, it’s so drawn out! A really lovely feature was a little juice dispenser by the reception with a tasting juice of the day- so lovely!

Rooms;
We were on the 9th floor and the rooms were outstanding. So beautifully designed, beds were sooooo comfortable ( pillows were amazing) and everything just exceeded our expectations. Loved the Nespresso machine and biscuits! Shower was amazing- everything was just so beautiful!

Food
We decided to eat at the bar area of the hotel that night and so glad we did- the curry was a delight and the steak sandwich was the best I’ve tried! Again, our servers were so lovely including Walter! The ambience and vibe was so chill and I could easily have stayed here all evening but we had the theatre booked!
Breakfast the next day was also outstanding - everything and anything you could want in the most beautiful surroundings. I especially loved the crockery that it was served on- so beautiful.
Walter once again looked after us and he was so kind, and checked we were ok! I noticed he took the time to help so many other guests and nothing was ever a problem!

Gym:
Everything so clean, fresh and modern- facilities were truly amazing!

In a nutshell, I will be choosing this hotel for all trips to London for good! I am already planning to be back in Dec again and cannot wait! Thank you for all especially Francesco and Walter! The best place!

We visited for a few days as part of our honeymoon and the staff generously extended some nice touches to help us celebrate. Thank you in particular to Devika N who reached out ahead of our stay to even ask if we had any dietary requirements (which we did).

The room was lovely, and we particularly enjoyed the cold filtered water available on each floor - we wish all hotels had this.

Location was pretty excellent, very very close to Aldgate station (just beware if you have luggage, you'll need to navigate some stairs at the station)

Our only slight negative was our surprise at the expensive buffet breakfast (58.5GBP for 2 people on 1 morning). It was good, but definitely not worth that cost. But fortunately there are other breakfast options available nearby (Pret A Manger is <2min walk) so we opted for that on most days of our stay.

Hi Graham, Thank you so much for an Epic review. I am thrilled to know that you both were able to enjoy your stay at Canopy and liked the extra touches done for your Anniversary. It was my pleasure to look after you both. Water and ice station in each floor is something really stand out in our hotel. I am sorry to hear your found the breakfast price expensive but happy to know you found so many options nearby. We do have options for a-la-carte menu which allows to avoid to pay the price for the full buffet. However, i would like to inform you that if you book breakfast through reception, sometimes they run good promotional price which is really worth checking upon your next visits. We look forward to welcoming you back to Canopy anytime soon. Thankyou once again for such an awesome review. Positively yours, Devika Narula Welcome Enthusiast | Guest Relations Manager

We loved this hotel's location with easy access to public transportation and loads of venues within walking distance. Room and furnishings were in good shape, clean, and relatively comfortable -- with the exception of the bed itself which was too soft IMHO. Amenities were fine with some vegan options available. All in all, a decent stay. But I have to say, upon reflection, the experience has soured a bit in my mind, leading to this 3-star review. First of all, the network and technology in the room didn't quite work as expected until, in one example after two calls for service previously, a kind gentleman came up to fix the cable on our TV where I was trying to stream cast a video, but that was on the day we were leaving... so not good. Secondly, the design of the bathroom was not very well thought out. The bathroom door is really not a typical door, but one of those barn-style sliding doors, offering no true privacy if you're sharing the room with a loved one. To make matters worse, the toilet is just inches away from the small sink, attached to the same small cabinet in the room if you can picture that -- and the sink would never drain properly. You have to get ready, brush your teeth, etc., practically standing over the toilet itself. Even with the seat down, it just felt off, not desirable to say the least. Finally, when we arrived from our long trip across the ocean (we were early by a couple of hours, admittedly), we were told our room was not available. That's understandable, of course, but we were then upsold by $40/night (the associate at the desk tried to go for $60/night) for a so-called upgraded room that happened to be "ready now." We were tired, so we took the deal. When I later had misgivings about the upsell due to the very unimpressive design of the room and the problems with technology, to the desk manager's credit, we were refunded the upsold amount. Needless to say, we had mixed experiences with this hotel. Average stay. Will try a different hotel on our next visit to London.

Hi CardCarrierOriginal, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. I'm glad to hear that you appreciated our convenient location and found the room and furnishings to be in good shape. It's also great to know that our vegan options were a positive part of your stay. I’m genuinely sorry to hear about the issues you faced during your visit. Your concerns about the sliding door and the bathroom layout are noted, and I apologize for any discomfort this caused. I understand how important it is to have a space that feels private and functional, especially when traveling. I’m also sorry to hear about your check-in experience and the upsell situation. While I'm glad we were able to resolve it by refunding the additional charge, I apologize for the inconvenience this caused during your stay. We appreciate your honest feedback and will use it to improve where we can. Should you ever reconsider, we’d love the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future. Safe travels and all the best on your next visit to London. Positively yours, Milena Radovic Lead Night Welcome Enthusiast | Senior Night Manager

The Hilton Canopy truly exceeded every expectation, making my stay unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive. Check-in was smooth and quick, and I was greeted with a refreshing welcome drink, a nice touch that set the tone for the whole experience.

The rooms are a perfect blend of modern comfort and style, with spacious layouts, soft linens, and thoughtful details like USB ports and high-speed Wi-Fi. My room had large windows with plenty of natural light, and the decor was a fresh, elegant take on modern luxury. Housekeeping was impeccable, keeping everything spotless and well-stocked throughout my stay.

As for the amenities, the Canopy Lobby is fantastic whether for grabbing a coffee in the morning or unwinding with a meal in the evening. Their fitness center is well-equipped and even offers bikes to borrow if you want to explore the area. Speaking of, the hotel’s location is prime, within walking distance to top attractions and trendy spots, yet it feels like a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle.

Room service was prompt, and the food was a delicious treat every time. Breakfast at the on site restaurant was a highlight, with plenty of fresh, healthy options and a chef ready to prepare custom omelets. The hotel staff is proactive and genuinely seems to care about guest satisfaction, from concierge services to quick responses to any requests.

Hilton Canopy is all about details, from the aesthetic to the exceptional service. It’s a true oasis of comfort and style, perfect for a luxurious and relaxing stay. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had a fantastic stay over Christmas at the Canopy in the Minories. The room was larger than expected, very quiet, and the overlapping blackout curtains made sure it was dark. In other words, excellent for sleeping. The bed was really comfortable, medium-firm, pillows were great, and the rain shower was amazing. We had the breakfast buffet one morning, which had lots of choices and was very tasty (we especially appreciated the artisan breads). Overall, everything exceeded our expectations, it was great value for money, and the location could not have been better (5 minute walk to the tube, 10 minute walk to the Tower Bridge).

This was the perfect oasis for our action-packed anniversary in London. I was immediately struck by the cordial and thoughtful staff, particularly Abdul Imran, who helped us check in. We came on Halloween and they offered us chocolate frogs and little gift baskets, as well as complimentary samples of their cocktail of the day. The hotel itself is gorgeous. It’s only 4 years old, so everything feels fresh and new. The rooms are spacious, impeccably decorated and well appointed with tea, coffee, drinking water, cups, a refrigerator, robes and slippers. The bed was divine - my husband and I both slept like babies. We had a wonderful city view of the Gherkin and the London skyline. There’s also a *crushed* ice dispenser along with a drinking water dispenser in the hall, which was heavenly for me. I love crushed ice and it was a nice touch. The bathroom shower doubled as a steam room and was lovely after a day of exploring the city. They made up the room especially for our anniversary with red ballon hearts taped to the wall and red rose petals on the bed, as well as complimentary champagne and a slice of delicious chocolate cake. The hotel is perfectly situated near all the sites we wished to visit - the Tower of London and Sky Garden are maybe a 5-10 minute walk, across the bridge we visited the Tate Modern and Borough Market. It’s also right next to Aldgate station for easy access to the tube and there are cafes, restaurants, bars, a Pret a Manger (personal fav for an on-the-go lunch!) and a Tesco express all on the block. After a long day of sight-seeing, we opted to dine in after and enjoyed the hotel restaurant’s steak sandwiches, which we were able to bring up to the room. We also crashed the restaurant on the top floor which was whimsically decorated with color and sophistication, offered stunning views of London on its wraparound terrace, and was buzzing with a live dj and a moderate crowd for a Thursday. If we weren’t so exhausted, we’d have definitely tried the restaurant as it’s ranked among the top restaurants in the city. The hotel also includes a state of the art gym, but we weren’t here for that kind of workout. I couldn’t recommend the Canopy London more, we were treated like royalty and enjoyed our rest in the lap of luxury. We will definitely be returning!

It pains me to write this review as I stayed here previously and had amazing experiences and stays. The location is impeccable, 3 minute walk from Aldgate Station and two stops over from Liverpool Street where you can take the Elizabeth Line straight from Heathrow. The surrounding area is amazing as well, just have to really mind the times as some kitchens will close at 9p. This past visit was one of the worst experiences in any hotel. Upon arrival the room felt like an oven, London and the hotel have implemented these obnoxious rules about energy/power whatever. We found out the unit was not working, also there was a leak in the ceiling, probably relating from the A/C unit that was leaking through the light fixture. The manager on duty, can’t remember name was very unprofessional and unhelpful. We were moved rooms the next day, and was told maintenance was going to bypass the A/C to make it cooler as I prefer my rooms on the colder side, this never happened and you could also tell the shower head had not been properly cleaned as water shot out every where from the nozzles. Needless to say the quality of this property in my experience has deteriorated dramatically. I was also to be contacted by a manager, never happened. I should also not have to answer an employee asking me “how do I make it right for you.” I feel as if in the service/hospitality industry one should know how to compensate/handle a situation like this.

This is a great property if you’re looking to stay in/near central London. The hotel is literally a minutes walk to Aldgate Station and can connect you to most parts of Greater London easily. The rooms are decent size and breakfast is worth waking up for. The view from the room of the London skyline is mesmerizing!

I reached the hotel earlier than expected and since I’m a Hilton Honors Gold member, the staff were kind enough to give me an early check in. After a 9hr flight I couldn’t have been more grateful to get that!

Special shout out and thanks to Devika, who was a treat to talk to. She made sure we had a very comfortable time and was so kind to me and my family. Since one member of my family is asthmatic and highly allergic to mold/dust, she paid extra care to ensure the room was perfect for us!

Just be aware there’s no room service (wasn’t something we needed though!)

We’d love to return here on our next trip to London!

We stayed for 2 nights, booking via the Hotel Collection by Amex. The hotel location is in the City of London, which is 20-30 minutes by train from many of the areas you may be visiting. The room (221) was ok -- bed was comfortable but views were of a parking lot, there was some visible mold in the shower, and AC was not working well. Breakfast was included via Hilton Gold status, and was good. The rooftop bar (Florattica) is advertised as part of the hotel, but we discovered that this is truly false advertising when we were informed that the bar is owned separately and that we thus could not charge to the room. Nevertheless, the bar staff wanted to know our hotel room number prior to seating us, which we later learned was for metrics review. Upon checkout, we confirmed verbally with the front desk staff member that all of our food and beverage charges (for in room dining and lunch) would be covered by our Hotel Collection credit. She used the word "zero" when describing how much would be charged to our credit card. We later received a bill with a credit card charge of 63.19 GBP, which upon calling the hotel to rectify was referred to as "an error." We also learned that service charges are not able to be covered by the Hotel Collection credit, so in actuality we still owed 16.69 GBP. We would suggest staying elsewhere; there are many excellent hotels in London that are not only in more desirable areas, but have nicer rooms and facilities and better service.

Response from Guest Relations Team, Guest Services / Front Office at Canopy by Hilton London City
Responded 2 Jul 2024
Hi Daniel, Thank you so much for your invaluable feedback and putting this matter to my attention. I am truly sorry to hear of the several issues you had encountered. Please be assured that I have addressed the issues to our maintenance management team for them to rectify and take necessary action. Our Florattica rooftop bar is a separate identity but it is still part of the hotel. It is recommended to book with them directly by going to their website. I am sorry for your disappointment in this matter. I would like to thank you for your Loyalty with Hilton and truly appreciate your status. Please be informed that your booking was made via The Hotel Collection by Amex, which allows you to consume $100 F&B credit in our outlets. As mentioned in the welcome letter sent to you prior to arrival, room service, gratuities, service charge, and the Florattica bar is not included. I am sorry if this was not clearly mentioned to you upon check out. I would also like to update you that it was by human error we accidently charged your card which was not suppose to be done. To make things right, I have actioned a refund for the full amount of £63.19. As a kind gesture, I have also taken action on refunding all service charge and tip amounts. Please allow some time for the refund to show in your bank account. Should you wish to discuss this matter further with me please feel free to contact me directly on grm@canopylondoncity.com and I am committed to making things right for you as we believe in delivering exceptional services. I look forward to hearing back from you to know if there is anything else I can do to make your overall experience positive. Positively yours, Devika Narula Welcome Enthusiast | Guest Relations Manager

Do the hop on hop off buses stop near the hotel?

There is a bus stop for all of the six hop-on, hop-off bus companies very close to the Tower of London. You can walk from the Canopy Hotel to that stop in about 10 minutes. It's just down Minories Street.
