Just returned from a weekend trip to London, chose the Grange Rochester for its location and price. Received a great welcome and we were delighted to be offered an upgrade. The room was spacious and quiet with a lovely view over Vincent Square. Had read some of the reviews and though yes, the décor may be a little dated the...

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

Loved this hotel. Great location in central London. Old character building well kept up with new windows and patio door to very small balcony. Our room backed onto a park made it very quiet at night. Comfortable beds not very many rooms in a hallway which was very nice so not a lot of hall noise at night.

This hotel is perfectly adequate in terms of its accommodation, and positioned in a quiet location, some rooms looking out over the Westminster school playing fields. However on going down to breakfast I was told there were no tables available and to come back later. Fortunately I was not pressed for time, but if I had been this would have...

The beds are tiny. As a single person, I was put into a room with two single beds, despite booking a room with a double bed. The bed is probably about the size I had growing up as a child. There was no iron or hair dryer. The staff essentially laughed in my face when I asked if I could...

I stayed for 2 nights in a superior room. Great sized room and fantastic shower. Breakfast was lovely included typical English hot buffet and then selection of fruits, yogurt, juices and option of toast, tea and coffee. I ate in the restaurant the first night not a great selection of meals but food was to high standard. I preferred their...

I found the hotel cheaply on one of the big discount travel sites, it was fairly last minute. Checked the hotels own rate and found one very similar, maybe a few dollars more than the travel site but including breakfast. I ended up booking through their website as the included breakfast seemed positive. I stayed here for one night on...

Not a bad location, within easy reach of Victoria train station/tube and St James tube station. Reception was very helpful, getting me a room where I wanted it. They also gave me a 20% voucher for their wine bar/eatery next door. I would recommend the rooms facing out onto the sports fields rather than onto the main road (the sports...

I was a little confused when trying to find the hotel - when I arrived on foot following the map on my phone, I found a wine bar called the Rochester. I thought I had the wrong place and almost turned back but someone saw me looking lost and pointed me in the direction of the hotel door around the...

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
