After having read the reviews thus far, I want to premise this review by stating that London is viewed as the part of Europe that strives to emulate American culture, fashion, and food. As a result, it doesn't have much food wise that is as culturally preserved as let's say France, Italy, or Greece. What does that mean? That you...

Stayed at the Queens Gate Hotel on 29th Dec following a trip to Royal Albert Hall and the Nutcracker on Ice. Overwhelmingly disappointed with the quality of the room (reception arrival area no better) considering the room price for the night - it was pokey, furniture old and worn with knocks and chips out of the desk etc Basic bath/shower...

The hotel is 300 meters from Hyde park and the statue of Royal Albert. Walking distance to the National History Museum and some distance to Harrods and all the good shops. Reception is very efficient and quick. The room is decent but lacks cupboards to store your stuff. But the bed is fine and it is clean. The bathroom also...

I was very pleased to be able to check in here at a very late hour, though some initial issues with company payment were a pain to deal with. All was sorted however without too much fuss. Two very slow lifts serve the other floors, but these were valued whilst carrying heavy luggage. The bedroom itself felt a bit spartan...

The hotel is well situated in the Kensington area close to Hyde Park. My room was not large but was very well fitted out with a range of electrical appliances. The bed was comfortable. I had two meals in the bar both of which were very tasty, firstly the Cod and chips which was very fresh and later a curry...

The room was small but clean. The breakfast was not up to standard glad it was included in our deal as would not pay £16 per person for it. Good location. Tea and coffee not topped up in room stayed for 2 nights.

This is my third stay here. I come every year to sing 'Messiah' at a charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Queen's Gate is the nearest hotel to RAH and has the best triple rooms. Sometimes we have an even number in our group so twin rooms are easy to find but when we have an odd number it's...

we booked a room for three persons, the bedding was very good, but the room was rather small for three adults. Very clean, friendly staff. To improve: no place to put your toiletries in the bathroom..... And another thing: we booked for three, but we nly got amenities, towels, bathrobes, slippers for two!

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
