We met friends for a champagne afternoon tea at this luxury hotel. The staff were courteous and efficient, if a little over -zealous in checking that we were happy with everything (our conversation was interrupted 4 times by our waitress which was slightly irritating). The food was fabulous although unfortunately when we requested decaffeinated tea we were told that they... More

I have never experienced a 5-star hotel with more genuine charm and exceptional service than this property. The landmark hotels with the best addresses are all exciting to visit, but many are now part of hotel chains. This gem in a 1910 building is still owned by descendants of the original Goring and their niche is treat everyone like family,... More

We had booked afternoon tea some weeks ago for our party of eight. Unfortunatley the previous occupants of the table were running late and we were only shown to our table 45 minutes late. However during that waiting period and the meal they provided us with complimentary drinks and upgraded our Afternoon Tea menu . They really went beyond the... More

I had lunch here last week and the whole experience was sublime, from the "Dirty Martini" in the bar to coffee in the lounge after lunch. The service was impeccable and the food and wines we chose just exquisite. I simply couldn't fault anything and am already planning a return visit. The Telegraph restaurant reviewer critiqued it the same week... More

Goodness me, I just can't believe it is a year since the last visit but so good to be back at The Goring. As soon as one enters the hotel, it feels like it was only yesterday as there are so many familiar faces of the Goring 'family' to attend to your every need. Five stars will not do justice to The Goring and the people working here. This is one of the best hotels and most memorable experiences I have had! The hotel is very close to The Palace and about 10 minutes walk from Victoria underground station, in elegant Belgravia. I stayed in a Splendid Room, which was quite spacious and quiet,... More

Much enjoyed the dining experience although we found the 3 course menu rather restrictive so went to the more expensive option. Wine was also expensive but I suppose we have to accept that. Service was top rate and attentive and we both enjoyed the ambience (but he was not paying!). Super venue but not if you are on a budget!

Old fashioned courtesy, and service is exceptional. We enjoyed coffee then champagne as a prelude to a birthday celebration. Comfort and elegance. Great location, and a lovely garden too. Nothing to disappoint.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
