It was a Cold December in London 2020. Uncertain times, but in no way uncertain memories. We arrived at the Rubens on 29 December 2020. We were warmly welcomed by Alice at reception. Oblivious to the fact that our stay at the Rubens would surpass every dream I could possibly imagine. The hotel, almost empty, due to Covid affecting Christmas, we were treated and entertained in a fashion that we almost forgot the horrid virus lurking outside those doors, being cautioned to follow the strict, but yet necessary, Covid regulations implemented by the hotel, to ensure everyone’s safety. I wish to thank the loyal staff at the Rubens; Adele, Alice, Zoey and Paula for not only providing the utmost professional service, but also making us part of their family during our stay. Inviting us to have New Years Eve on the top of the hotel roof, in awe of the almost empty streets of London, providing Baileys Hot Chocolate. I would recommend the Rubens in a heart beat to anyone who wishes to experience an extraordinary stay in London, right next to Buckingham Palace. Being treated like royals, in the epicentre of London, very accessible and close to Victoria Station, parks and attractions. I will be forever grateful to my travel companion who arranged the stay at the Rubens for our business ventures, and the staff at the Rubens who ensured that our stay was a memory never to be forgotten. Majestic, exquisite and absolutely recommended!!

Great location. Hotel is very rustic, but could be upgraded. A little dusty and old looking at times, despite being a 5 star hotel. Probably the vibe they're going for, but rooms could benefit from a touch upgrade. Location is great. Staff is nice.

Dear 369asrarkm Thank you very much for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your time with us at the hotel. and found our location and team to be excellent. We are a historic hotel, with a rich history- details of which can be found on our websites dedicated "history" page. With this being the case, we do not want to modernise the hotel too much as to take away from its roots. We ensure a stringent housekeeping programme and ensure regular deep spring cleans of all areas as well as daily cleaning. We appreciate your feedback and will be working hard to be the best we can be! Warm regards, Malcolm Hendry General Manager

Our time at the Rubens was just incredible. This review won't do it justice. The staff are really what makes this hotel, from Joe Scott and Alice at reception to Dave on the door. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. It was the first time we were visiting with our little boy and he really was treat like a king. Our room was the most beautiful family room and the breakfast with the 2 ladies that served us was just outstanding. We made a decision there and then to make this a yearly visit and we already can't wait for next December. Thankyou to everyone!

The staff at Rubens are simply lovely. I stayed at the hotel when our boiler broke and we were in desperate need of a shower/heating - when I told the nice lady at reception, she had a little gift bag of Pentaglion's shower gel and lotion waiting for me the next day. It's the little touches like those that differentiate 5 star hotels like Rubens from others. The bed was extremely comfortable as well. Will definitely be recommending this hotel to friends.

We stay annually to celebrate our sons birthday, but had to reschedule due to Covid. We cannot recommend the Rubens highly enough. The staff are simply wonderful and the service is outstanding. All necessary precautions are being taken with Covid, but you still feel really spoilt and special thanks to the superb team. All of this coupled with a great location and delicious food make it a must stay.

To just summarise, flexible bookings remain cancellable no penalty until 2pm the day before arrival. Pre-paid stays, guests can amend their stay using the monies paid for a credit to use within 1 year. If you booked the hotel directly with us, please contact the hotel reservations team who can organise this credit for you. If you booked with an online third party/travel agent, the credit extended for 12 months will also apply, you will need however to ask your booking agent to make this request on your behalf to our hotel reservations team.
