Recently we had a weekend in London and I can easily recommend this hotel, like all decent London hotels, it is not cheap but that is nothing new for London. We were so impressed with the service, prior to arrival I called to say that it was the birthday of my partners daughter and they kindly upgraded us and wrote...

I stayed in this hotel in March 2011 while visiting London with a friend who celebrated her birthday there. To surprise her, I asked for an upgrade and we stayed in one of the superior or deluxe rooms. The room was renovated not so long ago and was very spacious and clean. It had a very nice and well-equipped bathroom...

I need to be in this area quite frequently and alternate hotels between the Tower Hotel (guoman); the Grange and this Novotel, which are all within walking distance of the Tower. The Novotel is quite what one would expect of Novotel. It feels a bit cheap, but everything works, drinks and food is OK and beds sleep well. Prices however...

Great location! Close to restaurants and shops. The rooms are very spacious. We left the London Tower, London Tower Bridge until last as it was 5 mins away from the hotel. We went on the Big Bus Company which has a designated bus stop at the top of the stairs as you came out of Tower Hill Station. We started...

Stayed here on a recent trip to london. The hotel itself is in a great location - a quiet street but within a very short walk to tower bridge. 2 minutes away is access to the tube, the DLR and the thames clipper services on the river. The rooms are nice and not too small for central london. The hotel...

We stayed here with our 2 young children (7 and 4). We had a family room which consisted of the fold out sofa being opened plus I think a queen or king for us, so the room was slightly cramped (what do you expect for the heart of London though??). It suited us fine as we were out and about...

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
