Lovely hotel with great access to London Bridge and Southwalk station. Nice open plan contemporary foyer with friendly and helpful staff - looks like it's been done up recently. I had a Privilige room, which came with a Nespresso machine, but only the choice of two coffees - one of which was decaf. Also I had to ask reception to...

The situation of the hotel is on the South Bank, right behind the Tate Modern and was perfect for my visit. The welcome at the Hotel was by a very attentive receptionist in the stylish lobby of the hotel. Check-in, even before midday was immediate. The rooms, though good in size (for London standards) are lacking in Imagination. They look,...

The Merure at London Bridge is very good value for Money. However, a little far from a tube Station. The rooms are used, but OK and evreything one would need for a short stay. Even a Nespresso machine. We opted for a 'privilage' room which was quiet and although no view at all, very good for what we needed. The...

I am in London for work, and the choice of this hotel is not ideal in terms of the location; however, the hotel itself is quite nice, small and quiet. Staff are very friendly, and the most interesting part is the internet is free and quite fast, which is something I struggle in most of the hotels I visit. Access...

We enjoyed a one night stay at this excellently situated hotel behind/ south of the Tate Modern. The redevelopment in the area is impressive creating a good ambiance with a range of restaurants , shops, the Globe theatre and easy access to the Thames and the Millennium Bridge. However the shower and bathroom needed some renovation, while in future we...

Nice hotel at the back of the Tate modern. Good service and hotel lobby is lovely to sit in. We stayed in a privelege room which was nice. We didn't eat at the hotel as we felt it was too pricey but there are lots of nice places for breakfast across the road. Would stay there again!

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
