What a great stay!!! We loved the experience. Friendly and very helpful staff. They made great recommendations. They made us feel at home. Can't say enough about the Hotel and its staff. Unforgettable experience. Get a great deal and stay here.

Advertised as cheap hotel in a great location however the reality is a dirty hostel for down and outs. It is absolutely filthy, smelly and security was a huge issue for me as a single woman. I couldn't even think about staying and cannot understand how this place can pass basic hygiene tests to promote themselves as a London hotel.... More

Dreadful hotel. Dirty, no service, avoid at all costs. Location is surprisingly nice, but the hotel is so underwhelming that it does not justify going there. OK, it's cheap. But there is a minimum level of comfort that a decent human being expects. And it is not there at Clearlake hotel...

Cheap hotel but very smelly and dirty hotel. This hotel is owned by a family, they have no staff to provide the service. We stay in hotel 3 nights and 2 nights in the appartment. I dont want to stay in this hotel & appartment again. we dont recommend this hotel.

We booked this as we just wanted somewhere to rest our heads in a good location. Whilst the location is fantastic, we would actually rather sacrifice this than stay in the hotel again. Even after reading the other reviews, we booked thinking "how bad can it be?" Well, it was worse! Nothing has been decorated or maintained for DECADES. The... More

Two years after our last visit this hotel has certainly deteriorated. There is little really that I can say other than we won't be going back. It is a great pity because it is in a great location and the price is really good but this was not enough to save it!

Do not stay here - the whole place is symptomatic with decay. The facilities are out of date and well well worn. I do not know how the staff cope. They are friendly and kind but I think this is out of embarrassment more than anything else. Go somewhere else - you know it makes sense!

We had the large 2 bed/2 bath apartment on the top floor. This place has a nice location, but come on! So not worth it. It is disgusting, disgusting, disgusting! The carpet is worn through in large patches to the bare floor beneath, everything is dated form the 60's and doesn't seem to have been cleaned since then. Front desk... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.

“Do not go here!”

“If you do stay here, I recommend asking for a room in the same building as the front desk. Our room was in an adjacent building in which they lock the front door. In order to access the building for your room you have to go to the front desk and ask to be let in. Very annoying when it's raining or the front desk lady is gone.”
