This is one of our all time favourite romantic London hotels. The rooms are wonderful - especially Nellie Melba, and the staircase is just gorgeous, lined with terrific pictures - very elegant. BUT the hotel is being redecorated and is covered in scaffolding, and I think it is a bit steep to charge full price under such circumstances. When we...

We stayed at this hotel for only one night as we were visiting a concert at the Albert Hall. It is in a fantastic location for the Hall - literally 3 mins walk around the corner. It is a pretty and characterful hotel. As someone already mentioned, unfortunately restoration works are in progress at the moment, so there is scaffolding...

It would have been nice to have known that they have scaffolding all around the fasad and outside of the room-windows. The bed in our room was about 30 cm to short for me - and I am only 1.85 cm. long.... The breakfast is till top-notch.

We came to the The Gore Hotel bar for drinks and were served by the bar manager David Sanchez. He made us feel so welcome and went out of his way to look after us. Earlier on in the evening we had been disappointed to find out our show at the Royal Albert Hall had been cancelled (the pianist Lang...

A petite hotel with 50 rooms, welcoming staff and in a great quiet location. Whist visiting the Albert Hall, we stayed in room 308, complete with a four poster bed and an ancient wooden throne for a toilet. The bed was super comfortable and the room big enough to relax in for bit. Breakfast was great, I had fruit &...

Stayed here for two nights as a couple. The experience: 1. A cute hotel in an OK location (about 500m from restaurants, also close to V&A + Royal Albert Hall) 2. Staff was really great. Very professional, kind and helpful 3. Wifi works very well, no password required 4. Overall a quiet hotel and rooms are nicely appointed in a...

If you like a hotel stay that is not absolutely predictable but which offers instead something of a 'once grand private home' feel, you will enjoy the Gore. We were in a top floor room, one of the less expensive rooms admittedly, but the antique double bed still had a marvellously comfortable mattress and lovely bed linen. The en-suite was...

Stayed for one night as we were booked to see a show at the Royal Albert Hall (which is literally two minutes walk away). On entering the hotel one is immediately transported to a different world. The hotel is just beautiful, an oasis of calm with indulgent fabrics, fine art and antiques...one could imagine being a Victorian gentleman of means...

A brief one night stay with my daughter in the fabulous Gore Hotel. Trevor was the most helpful concierge we have ever come across - the hotel is lucky to have him! Perfect location, lovely decor throughout. Our room was great although our bed was extraordinarily high but then again we are both very short!

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
