My 'Deluxe' double room had no means of being centrally heated in sub - zero temperatures. The plug-in electric heater appeared to be faulty as it cut out as soon as it was switched on. An hour after check-in these problems had still not been addressed and I was told that there was no other room available. Therefore at 11pm...

We have a very nice stay. It is a classic hotel. Close to the South Kennsington tube station. The staff is courteous. The decor is pleasant. It is not really a four star, but good solid three star. Perfectly adequate.

We were greeted with the warmth of old friends. The staff couldn't do enough for us. They don't just tell you where things are, they go with you. Literally, walked us to the restaurant we were dining at that night!!

We arrived at the hotel and were given a basement, old dilapidated room with a grubby window. There was no upright shower, just an old rusty showerhead over the bath. Not exactly what you expect for a 4 star. We spoke to the manager who promptly moved us to a first floor room. Newly refurbished, (still no proper shower) but...

This is not a four star hotel - or at least our room in the basement was not! Check in was chaotic, we had been sent away as check in was not until 2pm, which is fair enough, but came back to a queue of unhappy people and we did not get our room until 2:40pm. Our room, what can...

눉Spent one night in a small room at the back of the hotel on the ground floor. That room was possibly ok for storage. Nothing to do with 3/4 star hotel. Dated, not cleaned properly, filthy bed cover, lumpy bed, standing ac unit with a plastic hose laying in the room connected to an window that did not close properly...

Well situated in South Kensington this somewhat worn hotel is a little disappointing. The internet didn't work, and that really should be fixed. The friendly staff tried their best, but it was a frequently occurring event. That's not good enough for today in a city like London. My single room was extremely small. I had to climb into the bed...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
