I went to the bar for a martini as it was suggested in the new york times. the bar was empty except an elderly gentleman and the Italian waitress talking about her family. the decoration is old style English i guess, nothing fancy but still comfortable. it was a weekday afternoon so that explains the emptiness. I'm not a big...

I've now come to call Duke's my home whenever I travel to London for business. It's proximity to the Jubilee line, Green Park and Mayfair make it the ideal boutique business hotel. However, given its hidden Mews location, couples will also find it a fantastic romantic hideaway for a long weekend of shopping and shows. Make sure to get down...

We had a wonderful stay at Dukes. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. Any requests were quickly and efficiently dealt with. It is a top quality hotel with bright airy rooms and a great atmosphere. The breakfast is served at the table to order and was perfectly cooked. Teapots were topped up as required and we were very well...

Beautiful hotel with intimate rooms. Wonderful furnishings and fittings. Felt like staying over at a rich aunty's house. Highly recommend for business or personal visits. Good location for shopping in Mayfair/Soho.

I have gotten tired of modern, designer boutique hotels. Yes, they are all different, but the Royalton in NYC isn't that different in feeling from the Montalembert in Paris. What I enjoy now are hotels that feel like where they are. And Duke's feels so very British. Hidden down a small alley, it's in a perfect location. Near Piccadilly and...

OK, we love to go and have an evening cocktail and Alessandro never let us down. Without a doubt it is the best cocktail bar in London. Cozy, maybe it is small but so much a place for people to enjoy an anytime luxurious cocktail. Time to sip, enjoy the olives the tidbits and the ambiance. Whenever we are in...

My friend treated me to afternoon tea at Dukes Hotel as a special birthday gift. We went along on a dreary Jan afternoon and had such a relaxing time, that I was reluctant to leave. The hotel itself is a beautifully historic building with very traditional and classy decor. The afternoon tea made me feel as though I was in...

We went two days in a row for lunch. Such a great location! Had the BBQ cheeseburger with bacon. Good but suggest sauce on the side. Fish tacos looked good and the hula pie. Music on Friday and Saturday nights. Really fun atmosphere

Lovely hotel can't fault it. The hotel has a really nice decoration and interior with classic design and furniture. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Love this place in London. Would still be our number one choice of hotel in London though.

Six of us recently stayed at the Dukes Hotel in the Mayfair/Soho area of London for about a week. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel, the accommodations, and the staff. We had a superior room, and it was clean and comfortable. It was reasonably-sized for a central London hotel (and the Superior room has a...

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
