This Monday, we were visiting London for the theatre and due to the short amount of time that we would spend at the hotel, we booked something run of the mill in the west end. However, when we arrived, it was terrible. We had stayed at The Portobello previously and it was the first place that came to mind so...

A beautiful Boutique hotel , part of Curious hotels group, tucked in the heart of Notting Hill, close to the famous Portobello road in London. Period houses very smartly restored and turned in to a cozy hotel, rooms and suites overlooking the Stanley gardens with lush greenery. Very friendly, hospitable and helpful staff, always at your service, lovely public areas,...

Our stay in the Portobello Hotel was the first night of our honeymoon before we flew out to Florence and my husband had emailed the hotel to inform them of the purpose of our stay. When we arrived in the hotel we were not welcomed warmly, a member of staff was hoovering the hallway and the gentleman on reception asked...

We (American couple with teenage daughter) spent a week at the Portobello Hotel over spring break. The staff and hotel were just fantastic. Two of our party were quite sick upon arrival, and the extra care and attention of the entire hotel staff to their well being and recuperation were quite heart-warming. Once we were all healthy, the staff went...

Fabulous hotel wonderful room overlooking garden with a huge bed that allegedly came from Hampton court. Couldn't believe I was in the hustle and bussel of lively Notting Hill. An Honesty bar that stocked Jordans wines from the vineyards in South Africa couldn't believe my luck. Douglas the Manager was very attentive and made sure that every detail was perfect....

I've stayed here three times before and have had a seamless experience each time, but alas on the last occasion the experience was soured by a chaotic breakfast experience blamed on 'lack of staff'. Forty minutes to wait for a coffee? An hour for a full English breakfast. Need to sort out the fundamentals. It's a beautiful, well-appointed hotel, but...

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
