I stayed 1 night in the hotel. Staff was friendly at arrival. They seemed nice and genuine. However when I entered my room, all I could notice was the bad things: Train running right outside my window, Bathroom looked like it needed renovation. My bedsheets were not quite perfectly clean. Air conditioning system looked and sounded like it could break...

This Travelodge is a great location if you wish to be near to the Southbank and all the many amenities that surround. It has very good transport links with the nearest tube only 2 minutes away. Waterloo is about 5 minutes walk with good rail, tube and bus connections. It is also a good walk into central London, which i...

Hotel is OK but rooms very basic - no phone - shower in bath and very narrow - should have shower curtain expander so you can in fact shower freely. Have stayed before and would not stay again as I need a little more comfort

I stayed on a Wednesday evening and the hotel appeared to be very busy. On the positive side the reception staff were very pleasant and efficient. My room was clean and furnished in exactly the same way as every Travelodge I have stayed in. The hotel is accessed by a lift from street level and when I arrived there were...

I have stayed in many Travelodge over the years and have only been slightly disappointed on one occasion. You always know exactly what to expect and it suits me perfectly. This travelodge is very near to Southwark tube but also within easy walking distance for sightseeing. There are several restaurants close by - one next door. The area felt very...

I had a meeting round the corner from here so it suited me very well. Parking is a short walk away -- I would ordinarily not drive into the heart of London but on this occasion had no choice. The website indicated parking was £12 overnight -- but my 17.00 arrival and 10.30 next day departure cost £36... having to...

Air con didn't work well and windows were not opening so basically I woke up in a hole with no air to breathe. Water from the tap stink. Hair dryer was not present in a room I had to go to reception to ask for it.

Hotel was in good location, staff were helpful and friendly but the room although clean smelt very badly of damp and there was no window to let any clean air in. Stayed on 5th floor room 516. Could have asked to move rooms but didnt want to make a fuss and presumed this was a hotel wide issue

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
