My first stay near Liverpool in a long time. The hotel aside, I really like the people here. Helpful, no nonsense and friendly. My double room looks over the garden area with adults / children playing... lovely evening. Tonight was "curry night" a beer a wine, prawn cocktail and a curry man bread rice chutney for.....£16 Room good, clean (maybe...

I was a tad surprised about this little gem, hidden away down some appalling potholed roads. Décor - different, not modern, not old, not run-down, good in most parts Meals - I only had breakfast but in looking at the menu and observing some of the meals being presented, they were extremely good and good value for money. There were...

Whilst in Liverpool , we thought we would have a meal at the quaint looking Childwall Abbey. The service was very slow, and found it difficult to find a member of staff at the food till to take our orders. The staff were more concerned in serving drinks, then taking food orders. There seemed to be a lack of management...

This place is shocking. Arrived as it was opening. Long faced miserable female working behind the bar knocked a bottle of J2 all over me and into a bag i was carrying, soaking the presents inside. Ok it was an accident, but she was very reluctant to apologise and didn't seem at all concerned. Then when we ordered food, they...

The hotel is probably an ancient abbey that looks like a little castle. It seemed to be in a fairy tale, a very nice atmosphere. The staff is kind, lovely and helpful. The breakfast was really good too! I found there such a friendly, warm and peaceful place to stay. The room was clean, quiet and lovely. I would like...

Fantastic customer service experienced here with super friendly staff. The pub/restaurant was good. The rooms were ok but very outdated which is a shame but you cannot complain giving the very good price. A little out from town, taxi about £10 each way.

Fab looking from outside. Food and service in the pub dreadful. Waited for ever to get served. No ice buckets for white wine. Kids running around everywhere. Place is big enough to keep one area at least for adults only for a bit of peace.

We stayed for 2 during the week and were extremely disappointed with the hotel. Our room was small and run down, which was probably reflected in the price charged, but the cleanliness of the hotel was unacceptable. There was dust on most surfaces and large cobwebs hanging from this ceilings, curtains and light fittings ( I felt like Miss Haversham...

We were very kindly put up at Childwall Abbey for 2 nights for my daughters' 'Make a Wish' to visit the Holyoaks cast. This was marred by our poor accommodation. The room was freezing cold, the shower was pathetic with paint peeling off ceiling, bathroom made constant noises when you ran water, flushed toilet, or even enter the room! We...

Not the most well decorated bar I've been in but it's ok. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The lunch menu was good, a decent range to choose from. My fish chips and mushy peas were perfect, the batter on the fish was deep gold and super crispy: exactly as I like it. My friends had chicken burgers and said...
