Don't complain about the cold in the room or you might be given the cold shoulder as we were. Despite a warm welcome from the host, we never saw him again after asking for a portable heater as the room was so cold. Lovely bed and the softest pillow ever plus a well cooked breakfast, but the owner's attitude let... More

This guest house is in a really good location, walking distance from Windermere town centre and also near to Bowness. The room was clean and nicely furnished and breakfast was excellent. Both hosts were friendly, helpful and professional. We felt well looked after. The only slightly negative thing was that the room (1st floor) was a little cold. It was... More

We were in the ground floor room with the four poster bed and it was beautiful. The facilities were great and the decor was lovely. All the small personal touches like the teddy bear made the room cosy and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfasts were nice and the hosts were very warm and attentive. Overall we had a... More

This guest house was our first few nights stay on our recent trip to the UK-what a wonderful beginning to start our trip. Would recommend this to anyone. It was a great location between two towns. We couldn't have chosen a better location for the beginning of our trip!

My wife & I stayed at The Chestnuts recently and enjoyed a wonderful stay. The place is very clean. The owners are very nice and pleasant. Location is also good, being central, or more or less, between Bowness & Windermere. We stayed in the top floor, four poster bedroom, with en-suite, which was really nice. Again, very clean and quite... More

Lovely place to stay in between Windermere and Barrow. We were given tea and cake on arrival, very welcoming. In the room were some really nice treats, including a corkscrew and wine glasses, coffee and a cafeteria and even a walking guide to the area with detailed instructions specific to the hotel (turn right out of the Chestnuts) which was...
