Booked well in advance for Valentines weekend, was not at all disappointed with anything. Lovely old building in a perfect location. The food in the bar, the restaurant and for breakfast was all excellent, Good selection of beers in the bar and an excellent choice of whiskeys, the open log fire and nice old dark wood make it very cosy....

We'd booked well in advance and had a superb room with a balcony where you could just see the lake. We were we'll received the room was very spacious, super bathroom, the only downside was the four poster bed which being antique seemed uncomfortably small. Food and service was excellent and good value too. If your looking for an early...

Thanks John. We do have a new Super-king sized bed on the way for this room, so it will be even better. The room is called Rydal, if you want to book it via our website.

Had the warmest of welcomes when we arrived, the staff were absolutely lovely and extremely accommodating. The room and bathroom were spacious and included everything we could have needed. The bar was cosy, had very interesting features and two lovely fires. Breakfast was well cooked with plenty of options, and the waitress was very polite and attentive. Lovely hotel in...

Great staff, great food. We had the Bluebell room situated in the cottage in the grounds. Not as luxurious as the main hotel but comfortable enough when you have a dog in tow. Great festive atmosphere in the Badger Bar. Walkable into Ambleside and some nice walks over to Grasmere

We stayed at the Glen Rothay for 3 nights at the end of January. The weather was atrocious, but that wasn't anyone's fault. We stayed in 'Otter' room, which is in a separate building. The heating was on and the owners had also provided an extra heater to ensure our comfort. Otter has a double and single room (so sleeps...

I have just stayed in the Glen Rothay hotel with a party of 6 walkers, and would highly recommend it. It is one of the few centrally located, reasonably priced, hotels that can now accommodate a large group in twin rooms, as it seems that most of the other hotels have now converted all their rooms to doubles. The Badger...

The hotel is in a great location, with the attached Badger Bar for food and drink too. Bedroom was clean and nicely decorated, with all the amenities you would expect. Staff were very friendly in the hotel and the bar. Breakfast was plentiful, we had no issues during our stay. I would definitely frequent this hotel again, as it's also...

"Wow".... to put it simply. Beautiful hotel with old charm. My husband had treated me to an overnight stay for my birthday. We stayed in the Rydal suite and it was simply beautiful. The bed was so comfortable so sleep came easily. The bathroom was huge and was very welcoming after a long day. The breakfast was superb and the...
