At this hotel you are immediately away from the hustle and noise of the motorway - you are in the country with views of valleys and hills. We enjoyed an upgraded room on the second floor - spacious with an excellent relaxing view of hillsides, trees and valleys. The hotel is spacious and comfortable with helpful, friendly staff. We chose... More

Greeted by a roaring fire which is always a welcoming sight as one dashes in from the pouring rain. All staff courteous and helpful. Not very disabled friendly as it is a bit of a rabbit warren and I had to lug a heavy suitcase up stairs. Room was cool and unwelcoming as the radiator had been turned off. Also... More

This is a fantastic hotel in which to stay. It is ideally located at Tebay services on the M6, and sits about 40 minutes drive south of Carlisle. The staff are so helpful and friendly and want to ensure that your stay is as enjoyable as possible. The food is very good, and you can dine in the restaurant, or... More

I have stayed at Westmorland Hotel 3 or 4 times, all business meetings. When I park my car I heave a great sigh to find myself nestled in such astonishing beauty and every time it's the same reaction. I just love this place, apart from the fact that it's very homely and nicely furnished, the staff run a first class... More

We were looking for a stop over while heading up to Edinburgh. From the reviews The Westmorland fitted the bill perfectly. Pleased to say that the many positive reviews below we found to be spot on. We arrived late evening and had a meal in the bar as the restaurant had finished serving. The food was excellent. As it was... More

Stayed for just the one night and found everything just right for an overnight stop en route home from Western Isles. A nice hotel, just off the motorway but no noise problem as it's hidden by earth banks. Has a relaxed ambience but service whilst friendly is very professional and personal. Room was rustic and pleasant, food and staff excellent... More

Upon arrival at this beautiful hotel, we were welcomed by friendly staff. The room was spacious with down bedding and woven cashmere blankets. The bathroom supplied homemade lemongrass soap which was a lovely touch. The tea and coffee facilities provided were excellent with delicious homemade biscuits to enjoy after a long journey. I had dinner and breakfast here and both... More

A beautiful setting with lovely views of the rolling hills from our window. Tastefully decorated throughout. Excellent room with all amenities and comfortable bed. Fantastic friendly staff and excellent food. Although handy for a transit stopover also great for a quiet relaxing getaway.

My room was very comfortable. Great little touches: local natural handmade toiletries, homemade shortbread, cafetiere coffee even. Welcome was great at reception and the chap on the bar had only been there a few weeks but was really personable and gave excellent service. Evening meals are pretty pricey here but you can have the bar menu in the restaurant. There... More
