Very clean, good quality accomodation with excellent food. Would recommend for a peaceful stay. Beds were excellent and bathroom very clean with everything you need when travelling. Gardens very overgrown blocking views if you expect to see one. However at least the birds don't wake you up at 4am by nesting in the overgrow garden just outside the window. Host...

We stayed with Tine and Jim in July 2012 and just loved it there. On the road there we had our doubts to find any habitat at the end of it but were generously rewarded. The Garden Room is beautiful and comfortable, sleeping there was very peaceful. Since it was that very rainy summer we didn't get to sit on...

We were looking for an overnight stop on the way to Glasgow and then a return visit for a few days on our way back South. Jim and Tine could not have been more welcoming and after a long drive the gorgeous bathroom (complete with towelling robes) and the excellent beds saw us well rested and ready to tackle the...

We stayed at Lowthwaite B&B on our way up to Scotland, the location was spot on - close enough to Penrith and the M6 not to be too much of a detour, but situated in peaceful countryside to make our overnight stop feel truly relaxing and special. Jim gave us a very warm welcome, and is very knowledgable about the...

Beautiful room with exceptional en suite facilities. Possibly one of the best breakfast choices you could wish for. However, most importantly, our hosts were kind, friendly and very knowledgeable about the whole area. We would heartilly recommend Lowthwaite without fail. Also, if you like birds (the feathered variety), then you'll enjoy the view.

Friendly and helpful owners. The breakfasts are amazing. In a peaceful setting. Everything was wonderful! Especially the homemade muffins. If you're lucky enough to stay on one of the nights they do dinner then make sure you have it. Ours was 3 courses and delicious. We will be staying here again next time we are in the Lake District.

Our family of five stayed at the B&B and we could not have wished for a better experience. Our boisterous children were welcomed and our housts, Jim and Tine, were spectacularly friendly and helpful. We had such a great time we are already considering when we might be able to return. Great location and, my word, the breakfasts Tine puts...

Stayed one night on our way home from Scotland. Big mistake - should have booked at least another two nights. We chose the Blencathra room at the northern end of the cottage. This is a quirky mini apartment with bed on the ground floor and seating (& TV) above with bathroom. WC is on the ground floor - handy at...

I think this is probably is the best B&B in Cumbria. We've stayed with Jim and Tine three times in 14 months and it really is a pleasure to spend time at Lowthwaite. The location is so peaceful even in August. The rooms are lovely, and the breakfasts and dinners are simply superb. Why anyone wants to have dinner elsewhere,...

We stayed at the Lowthwaite B&B in June as part of a 2 week tour of the UK. After several attempts (and no vacancies) for a booking in other top rated trip advisor B&B's we decided to give the Lowthwaite a try. We had some concerns that the B&B was too remote and hard to find. The B&B was actually...
