we were a family of four and had the dorm room in the attic with one double and two single beds. The bathroom across the hall was spacious and everything was very clean. The lady of the house was very attentive and served a la carte breakfasts each day. Lovely veg garden for our children to explore.

We've been staying at Barton Hall for over 20 years since our (now 21 year old) was cruising the furniture with her baby steps! Was always great to have the warmth and comfort of the gorgeous drawing room and 4 poster beds but be able to feed the children and bath them before sitting down to eat ourselves in the... More

Looked for somewhere to stay for a night at Pooley Bridge and the B&B's in the centre of town were all charging around £100 per night. Spotted this place and it was £30 per person per night for a dormer room and £45 for a room with a four poster bed. We booked up and arrived early at 11:30am. You... More

Ailsa and her team just couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. The house and rooms are just stunning. We will definitely be back next year. Thank you so much for everything you did. Ailsa stayed up till gone midnight to let us in as we'd had problems on the M6 with our boat. She is wonderful.

Was recommended Barton Hall by a work colleague and it certainly exceeded all expectations which I had about staying here. Fabulous Breakfast, Brilliant Service, Comfortable and spacious rooms and spotlessly clean. Very interesting place and only a 10 min walk to Pooley Bridge, the Lake and the Steamer (or 2 mins drive). Keswick around 30 mins drive (using A66) Ambleside... More

Stayed another night here at Barton Hall. It is a beautiful house which still retains a taste of victorian elegance. The rooms are so elegant you won't want to leave. The hall has very high standards of cleanliness and the breakfast was freshly prepared and nicely presented. Ailsa and her friends are warm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.... More

We love Barton Hall having stayed there several times over the years. Elegant rooms, excellent facilities (there is a kitchen for guests use) and hearty breakfasts. It's also great value - don't like advertising it really - would prefer to keep it to ourselves, but that wouldn't be fair. Thank you Barton Hall (lovely Elsa, Val, Trish and all) and... More

This must be the fifth or sixth time my wife and I have stayed here. We never cease to enjoy its space, elegance and the warm welcome from Ailsa and her team. One could not ask for better than the beautifully furnished bedroom, plus adjacent bathroom, in which we stayed. And it has good wifi access.
