Good area to visit the lakes from. Delicious breakfast. Room has everything necessary for comfortable stay. Owners very helpful and knowledgable about the area and where to visit. Great value in my opinion and very honest when I was making the booking by phone. Answered all my questions and provided 2 very suitable rooms for our stay.

My partner and I stayed at the hillside for my birthday weekend (little did I know that we would also get engaged) we booked this after relentlessly trawling through the Internet for a reasonably priced place to stay and we can honestly say hand on heart that we couldn't fault one thing about it! From the moment we arrived to...

After an unexpectedly long and rainy day, we were welcomed and - very importantly! - shown the *airing cupboard* where we could get our boots and clothes dried. Not all B&Bs on our Dales Way walk had an airing cupboard, so this was a big plus. Richard gave us directions to restaurants down the hill and predicted, correctly, we would...

Richard and Wendy couldn't have been more hospitable. The B&B is clean and lovely, and an quick and easy (10-minute max) walk into town which means you don't have to worry about driving or parking. Breakfast was delicious, freshly prepared and great way to begin the day. Richard gave us some helpful tips for what to see and how best...

The room was very clean and comfortable everything we needed was there! comfortable room and lovely breakfast would recommend to anyone. Richard and Wendy were very helpful and informative. Hillside is at the top of a very steep hill and may be difficult for anyone with limited walking capabilities. Apart from that its ideal

After walking 18 miles of The Dales Way staying at The Hillside was an absolute pleasure. There were 8 of us in the group and they accommodated us all with no problems. The rooms were very comfortable had everything we needed especially a hot shower. Close to all amenities of Kendal

Needing a short break we booked this B&B at short notice so we're lucky to get a room. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, and possess phenomenal knowledge of the area. Nothing is too much trouble, although we didn't really need anything as it seems everything is thought of already. Clean, comfortable room, spotless bathroom, excellent breakfast, beautiful area,...

This is the best bed and breakfast that I have stayed in, the rooms are immaculate, the hospitality is second to non! Richard and Wendy made us very welcome and couldn't do enough for us. If you are thinking of going to Kendal, check out this b&B first, you will not be disappointed, first rate!

After an hectic 3 days of delays and hold ups and cancelled meetings. I arrived at your wonderful relaxing and very welcoming establishment. Richard and Wendy, thank you for allowing me to have an earlier than normal breakfast, and for listening to my moaning about my disastrous few working days. It helped me off-load some stress. Ha. I will definitely...
