We visited the lake district over Easter, Madness you may think, yes everywhere was extremeley busy, however if you travel out from the main drag really just a few miles away you can find the Gilpin, its a lovely freindly pub, warm welcome, good food, very extensive menu with something for everyone, and drink! worth a little detour.

We called in passing for a drink and found that renovations have taken place since the new manager took over a year ago. We ended up staying for a few and finished off with a very tasty chicken liver pate' followed by excellent fish and chips. We will be back!!

I went to the pub for a meal with a family member. At the time we got there, there was 4 other people in the pub eating. We were given menus and sat ourselves down. No one came over to see if we would like a drink and we were not told what the soup of the day and pie...

On arrival nice welcome, when taken to room it was very cold and remained cold for long time, unable to control radiator as heating seemed to be off over night, though did have small independent heater to use. Room was ok though no wardrobe and no heating in bathroom I.e heated towel rail. Staff were very friendly and evening meal...

Visited yesterday for lunch. Bar and dinning area newly refurbished with a coal fire in the bar very nice as it was a cold wet day. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Orders taken quickly and food arrived promptly. Varied menu with plenty of choice. I had scampi and chips, when it arrived it was well presented, large scampi pieces and...

Had lunch here with friends. Very friendly and efficient staff. Food was of a reasonable quality and at a very good price. All food came out together and the hot dishes were piping hot. They seem to be able to cope quite admirably with pre ordered food for large numbers. Well worth consideration.

Having traveled to Windermere for the day and having nothing but bad weather we decided to stay over... as it was late we didn't have much choice other than to stay at the Gilpin bridge.... reading online, staying above a pub on a Saturday night next to a busy dual carriageway didn't sound like it was going to the best...

We went to Sunday lunch here with a group of friends. Some of them expressed doubts about the place, because of a previous visit, but we were all very happy with the experience today. Service very friendly, food well presented and tasty.
