We stayed at the Red Lion for 2 nights, and had room number one on the top floor. Its a very old building in which the inside remains true to its traditional values - authentic, uneven floors, yet quirky and charming at the same time. The room was spotlessly clean with plenty of room and a great, hot, powerful shower....

We purchased a Living Social voucher for the Red Lion and phoned right away after the purchase and were pleased to get exactly the day we wanted in half term. The room was cosy and full of character and had a lovely bunk bed for our daughter in a curtained off section of the room. The room had everything you...

Arrived around 6.30pm on Easter Sunday five of us and a dog. Friendly helpful staff found us a table in the bar. A mouth watering choice of mains was on the menu. Once ordered we only had a short wait before we were tucking into some excellent tasty dishes. Food, Service and atmosphere was to be admired, more so after...

Just spent two enjoyable nights at this public house, the rooms were very comfortable with a lovely comfy bed and very large fluffy towels. Breakfast was very good and piping hot and served to you with a smile. We ate both evenings in the pub and enjoyed all our meals, in fact my husband said it was the best steak...

We stumbled across the pub whilst discovering Hawkshead, we were ready for a drink and some lunch. We did have two collies with us, whom both pub owners welcomed. The Landlady was really attentive and interested in our dogs, even giving them treats! The lunch we ordered was lovely, really fresh and tasty. The landlady even advised us of a...

Picked this pub because of the reviews. Had a lovely 2 night break. Just wanted somewhere to relax and do a little walking. The weather couldn't have been better. It had snowed a few days previous so the mountains had snow caps on them. We were made to feel very welcome and at home. The rooms were cosy. Although floors...

We stayed for 2 nights, we were greeted and made to be feel very welcome by all of the stsff. Our room was a bit dated but very clean and had everything we needed, tea and coffee etc. Our bed was huge and very comfy. The rooms are quirky and the floors uneven but that else can you expect from...

Great pub, really friendly staff, simple menus with top quality food at a fair price. They are very dog friendly and even have a dog menu. The landlady bought out snacks for the dogs and said hello. Next time we go to the Lake District we are staying in Hawkshead so we can re visit this pub. I could not...

Ok, firstly, I'm giving this Inn a very good four out of five. Not because it is in pristine condition, and offers bags of extras, a gym, a pool etc etc. No, it's because it is exactly what we wanted when visiting the lakes. A quirky, very old coaching inn with bags of character, no frills, wonky floors, old fashioned,...

We stayed here two summers ago and have been meaning to review. We stopped off in Hawksehead in hope of a hotel to stay in, and most hotels in Hawksehead were very expensive, but the Red Lion Inn gave us a really good price. We also got to pick what room we wanted. We picked a lovely old crooked room...
