Lounges and setting excellent. Great for strolling in to pubs in Grasmere and wonderful walks from the door. Staff very helpful. Parking was a real problem however! We had to park cars almost a mile away and walk back to hostel.

The prices as with many YHA facilities are very affordable. You are housed in a Victorian mansion with bunk rooms. The facility is situated with some lovely views of the hills around, and you are within walking distance of the town and some nice pubs. Really lovely place. The breakfast is nice as well, £5.75 will get you a fry-up...

We were travelling as a couple and just looking for a base for 2 nights so that we could do some walking in the area. The hostel is well situated and is equipped like other YHA hostels that we have used. We were allocated room 6 which was really tiny and from the plan of the building clearly the smallest...

The initial welcome was a bit distracted and lukewarm. Building would benefit from a bit of attention. The sanitary bins in the ladies toilets were full and overflowing. On the positive side, the drying room was large and effective.

We took a large group after not visiting for 5 years. It has had a lot of work done on it in that time and we really enjoyed our 3 days here. It is a 5 minute walk to the village and pubs, has plenty of parking. The staff were a credit to the YHA and nothing was too much...

Staff v. helpful, as ever, and of course beautiful surroundings. Excellent value, don't normall...

friendly welcome and perfect for our 2 day family lakes walking trip. We had a supper club convivial friendly meal 3 other couples and our family of 5. Rooms fine , tried to find the bunks comfortable but on this occasion must confess they are no where near as comfy as my bed at home but they saved the purpose...

We stayed as a family in August. YHA is always cheap and cheerful and this suited the purpose and the cost. Breakfasts are great, dinners are substantial (supper club was excellent) and drinks prices are OK (YHA is a charity so they are a bit pricy) Our room was small, not great of you have hyper kids, and warm -...

Self catering area was lovely to use, the rule is no alcohol onsite but you can purchase it at reception or in the restaurant. Great location for shops, cafes and restaurants. Car park slightly small hard to find a space but could use road parking nearby. Private room was just what we needed with sink & plug socket. Close to...

Ideal place to get your head down, clean throughout. Good breakfast, decent location, you know what you're getting with a yha. Only minor problem is we arrived late and there was no parking left available. Would stay again
