Contrary to the large sign outside, the Crown doesn't serve food all day. Our mistake was saying we would return later. The oven baked salmon must have been precooked as it was almost cold. Yes it was replaced when requested but served on cold plates meant our meals quickly lost their interest. In addition the potatoes were almost raw. For...

Nice enough food spoilt by incredibly rude and aggressive staff and being poorly seated because we weren't locals and so couldn't book. Will never return. Plenty of other nice pubs in the village to choose from.

We chose the Crown for a one night stay in the Coniston area. Conveniently located on Yewdale Road and is only a 2 minute amble into the centre of the village. Plenty of onsite parking which is free for guests. The hotel will let you leave your car there for the day after you check out for free should you...

I recently stayed at the Crown (Apr 2017) along with my brothers for a walking weekend. We booked a triple room (three single beds). This exact type of accommodation can be quite hard to find locally. As regular visitors to the Lake District for walking weekends, we believe we are reasonably well placed to judge the experience of staying at...

I stayed here In April for a two night stay. Myself and two other guys had a walking trip planned and arrived on the Friday evening. It took a little time to get out room keys but this was fairly understandable as the bar and restaurant were both packed full. The room was for three people in three single beds,...

We stayed here for one night as a party of six walkers. The rooms were good and had been recently refurbished. The downsides were no mattress toppers, making the beds slightly uncomfortable and no wifi, which in a town with minimal network coverage was a problem. Supper in the evening was very good. Fish, chips and mushy peas were the...

Have been coming to this pub for over 30 years, and was thoroughly modernised some time ago. Very large bar area, with useful range of beers/ lagers and good outside seating. Food tends to be rather average. Extensive car park for patrons. Part of the old outside building was mocked up as a garage for the Donald Campbell TV film,...

We had cycled around Coniston. We were in need of a drink and a rest. The Crown was ideal for us. Clean and welcoming with a great range of drinks. We did not eat but the menu looks great. We were adequately served but tge young helpful staff. Yes I would return and recommend.

We stopped here for lunch during a hike. The burger and the curry we had were ok and we enjoyed them in the sun on the front yard of the pub with some nice local cumbrian ale. Friendly and attentive staff and the place located right in the middle of such a pretty town made it a great moment.
