We were looking for a night away from the hustle and bustle of Manchester for New Year without paying traditional New Year's Eve prices - as a result in all honesty our expectations were not that high when we found this great deal at this quirky little hotel! Quaintly old fashioned on the outside and in the public areas -...

I arrived late to a beautiful scene and a room with lake views, the hotel is well maintained and a high standard of hygiene. The staff are more than welcoming and accommodating as at times I’m not the easiest to please once things are not right. The staff, where very friendly and professional. It's the first time in many years...

We received a lovely and genuinely friendly welcome, and were allocated room 6 with views from one window towards Lake Coniston and from another towards the Old Man. The room was lovely, with the most amazingly comfortable four poster bed, but it was cold. We found a heater in the wardrobe, and left it on whilst we walked the 10...

We recently spent a short break here and had a lovely time. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a great location. Unfortunately the weather was a bit bleak so we weren't able to explore the grounds which would have been nice. The food is good quality and offers a good extensive menu - try...

Not many negatives, we stayed in room 21 – the shower looked the part (large cubical and shower head) unfortunately like most hotels we stop in the power was pretty pathetic, also the toilet seat did not seem to fit properly, that being said neither of the above spoilt our trip. Location; Just perfect, A short 5-10min walk into the...

Good points - we felt the staff were very welcoming and pleasant at all times, the food was also good. The bar area was very nice as was the restaurant. Bad points - the prices for the "local" spirits very expensive and no prices on the chalkboard, we should have asked the prices because we certainly wouldn't have ordered the...

A visit here in November, ( no special reason!) but very enjoyable nevertheless. A couple of calls to make enquiry and to book dinner, were dealt with very well by the young lady who booked us in when we actually arrived. Her consequent greeting was well beyond that in many much larger hotels, even to remembering that I had 'phoned, and mentioning it.The...

A very pleasant hotel in a superb location with lovely views. We booked on a bargain break last year and the hotel cancelled due to local flooding and honoured the booking for this year which was very good of the manager. Our room was small but very nice withg a good en-suite on the second floor and had no view...

This 2 night break at this hotel was bought for me as a present for my 40th birthday and I have to say the staff were great. But that's the only great thing! The room we were allocated was a good size but smelt of damp. The shower had a fair bit of mould and most annoyingly the toilet seat...
