We stayed for the weekend in august as we have for a few years. We were disappionted how run down the sun has become. The decor in the room , the bed and general cleaning were not what we have enjoyed previously. It's a lovely pub/ hotel but in need of some tlc and management changes. Will not be visiting...

We stayed for three nights over Christmas. The room was OK (Room3) However the décor is a bit tired and curtain rail hanging off at one end. Only one bedside light. Bathroom good. Also we had to ask for the heating to be turned on as room was cold upon our arrival! Customer service is non-existent here! Generally it felt...

This was supposed to be a relaxing couple of nights after difficult times (husband in hospital now having heart op). Far from it. Arrived to a dark and silent place. Given a key to a room still unmade from previous occupants. Went down and given another key - same thing happened. Down again, key this time to a freezing attic...

Stayed for 4 nights and generally found it to be good value for money in a fantastic location. Beer and breakfasts great, plenty of hot water (although shower in room 4 not powerful enough). With a bit more attention to detail, this hotel could be brought up to the standard of a 4 star which it isn't at present. Decor...

When we staggered in after a 6 hour hike up The Old Man of Coniston, it was a joy to have a pleasant pint of "Old Man of Coniston" beer in the pleasant lounge; the bar was packed out with hikers, on a glorious afternoon, and there was no room around the fire; however no objection was made when we...

The reception is a bar. The bar smells of body odour. The corridors are damp and partly undecorated. There's carpet in the bathrooms. The fire alarm went off at 6:50am - no staff appeared. The guests stood around for 20 mins. Reason: they didn't hear the alarm. The alarm was set off by a shower. A problem they are aware...

We've loved this pub for years making it a regular watering hole whenever we visit the Lake District. Not much beats a trek up and over the Old Man of Coniston followed by a pint of Loweswater Gold at The Sun. Dogs welcome, a real fire, great choice of beers and now even some decent cider; Addlestones Cloudy. What's not...

We Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. Our Room was on top floor overlooking the village, not large but adequate. However there were a few things that need improvement...decor is very tired, bed was very uncomfortable, too soft. The room clean left a lot to be desired after our first morning...bed was roughly made and the used wet...

Disappointing is not strong enough to describe our experience of lunchtime service and quality of food. We have previously called on several occasions after a long walk for a lunchtime bar snack and had good service and excellent food.......today was certainly the exception!!! We chose our meals which comprised of 3 beef baguettes with chips and a prawn baguette with...
