Stayed here for one night, the room was superb, very luxurious. We could choose to eat in the restaurant or the bistro. We chose the restaurant. The service was fantastic and the food was beautiful, couldn't fault any of it. We can't wait to go back!

This is our second visit for afternoon tea at the Trout. My daughter and I are on a mission to have afternoon tea in as many lake district venues as possible. Thus far the Trout is streets ahead of any of the others; even a very expensive establishment just a few miles along the road in the Keswick direction. The...

Beautiful hotel, smelt wonderful as we came in. Spacious room, good facilities to make tea/coffee, really nice toiletries in the bathroom as well. Reception were great, they noticed my partner and I were a little under the weather and mentioned if we were to sleep in they would still have some breakfast available for us in the morning. Really warm...

We have just returned from a lovely 2 night stay at this beautiful and newly refurbished hotel , the standard of the Christmas decorations were stunning and the refurbishment of the hotel has been done to an excellent standard after the dreadful floods. We stayed in the executive double lots of room in a very modern and spotlessly clean room,we...

Dogs not welcome anywhere in this hotel except a few bedrooms, what good is that, it made our stay very difficult. Do not market yourselves as dog friendly because you are not. A hotel that is dog friendly allows dogs in a bar area or lounge, of course not the restaurant but at least a bar area.

Poor service from unhappy staff. The second tea tray was dropped and it was only when we asked that we were given another. Accidents happen but it had not been our fault so the delay was annoying. Extra tea and coffee was available but only if we asked. This seemed to be a lot of trouble for the waitress. The...

We stayed here for dinner, bed and breakfast and to see the Christmas market. We were in one of the refurbished rooms on the ground floor, the attention to detail was outstanding right down to at least three double sockets with built in USB sockets. The Cumberland ale was perfect as was the temperature of the beer. The dinner was perfect...

Called in for a meal at the Terrace Bar at 6pm on Saturday having just returned from Carlisle only to be told that a new booking system was in operation -previously you could not book tables in the Terrace and there was no vacancies, despite the fact we were faced by several empty table non having reserved on them. Rather...

I'm sure this is one of the best Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, you could ever hope to discover, it's certainly very popular with locals and visitors alike. These days I only get to Cockermouth about four times a year, but always go to the Trout, where it's a relaxing atmosphere and I'm guaranteed a warm welcome and good food. The establishment...

Went for lunch for the first time since the floods. Lovely refurbishment, and friendly staff. I had the turkey dinner which was a good plate full. The roll of bacon and chipolatas were hardly cooked and the mashed potatoes were stone cold. It didn't help having cold plates. My friend had the trout which she enjoyed although she did say...
