The hotel was very nice-we arrived fairly late in the afternoon and were given a huge big room with touches of luxury like a huge tv, fresh coffee and bottled water. Very clean room and nice toiletries in the bathroom too. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here-although we didn't find Cockermouth as a town anything special so we wouldn't go back-we...

Thank you Barbara, Christine and Kay for a memorable weekend. We loved Cockermouth, partly because it was off the main tourist trail but mostly because of your hospitality and interest in our group. The breakfasts were 5 star, The rooms were very clean and comfortable, varying in size but generally old worlde style and interesting. The town we loved and...

I travelled here from London and arrived late. I got to my room and was very disappointed, £95 and no room to swing a cat! No where to put anything managed to find a space on the floor for my case. The pillows and duvet made me urge through the smell of stale sweat! The pillow cases and duvet cover...

Stayed at the Allerdale several times over the past years and it gets better every time. Large well presented rooms which get a clean stylish redecoration, great breakfast spread and quality, good little bar and in the central square.

We stayed here over the Easter weekend, and made this booking very last minute. Staff are so friendly, Mark who checked us in could not have been more helpful. Rooms are quite standard, with very thin walls, but warm and comfortable. Was really impressed to receive two massive chocolate Easter bunnies on our pillows, a really lovely touch. Best hotel...

Mixed review down stairs is lovely but the room we had was damp and dirty. The breakfast was lovely but if we could have moved rooms we may have had a better experience. We even tried to move hotels. Glad I stayed for the breakfast, which was good. Staff were also very polite and helpful. It's a shame about the...

As a party of six we simply wanted a cup of tea and the man at reception could not have made us feel more welcome. He served up a cracking pot of tea and some truly delicious shortbread biscuits - surely homemade. What we were charged was exceptionally good value but I have to repeat how impressed I was to...

Nice large room, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, friendly welcome and a great breakfast - just the job! Pay and display parking just across the road. I was concerned by previous review about having to keep feeding the parking meter, but this was wrong as I was able to pay just once. Don't let this put you off.

We last stayed here too many years ago to mention but staying over this last weekend was like going home! Many things like the decor and layout had changed but the thankfully, the friendly but professional welcome had not! Kay is a lovely host and her staff were chatty but polite. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable and breakfast...
