Excellent rooms. I was really impressed. Very clean. Shower was spot on. Staff managed really well during breakfast as the manageress / chef broke her wrist in the morning and was in hospital. 10/10 for that. Very helpful staff all round. My only gripe was the parking. There are several rooms but only around 6 or so parking spaces. So...

Having been let down by another B & B,( whom we shall not name,as they have re booked us in for another date and don't wish to cause upset) We turned up at The Gables in hopes that the room they advertised on Booking.com was still available. It was, and I am so grateful. Being my husbands birthday treat I...

Perfect location for Ambleside Perfectly friendly owners Perfect cleanliness Perfectly easy check in and out Perfectly tasty fab cooked breakfast Just a few minor picks and pokes.. but constructive criticism only of course!) The sash window kept banging through the night (room 3) possibly worth adding some foam draft excluders? The heated towel rail was very hot and very large.....

I stayed at The Gables for the first time in 2007 and I've kept coming back every year since that. And I will continue. I sleep there like a baby! "My room" (and the whole guesthouse) is always spotless (and the bed is like that it was built for me...). En-suite facilities are as they're supposed to be. Breakfast is...

Stayed here in June for a one night stop-over on the way to Scotland. It was very difficult to find anywhere in Ambleside that would accept a one night booking on a weekend so we were pleased to find a room here. Room was on the small side but otherwise comfortable and well equipped. Bathroom was a little 'tired' and...

Lovely guest house. Rooms clean, comfortable and warm. Breakfast good. Hosts & staff friendly and efficient. Our room was on the second floor at the side of the building, overlooking the one way system - minimal noise even with window open. Can't ask for more for an overnight stay - will be back!

Lovely little guess house in a good location in the town. We were fortunate enough to have the room they show on the website but there are a few minor comments I have. The mock four poster bed is nice but you can't see the TV from it! Also the blinds are beautiful but they don't keep the light out...
