very authentic much better than the artificial places that seem to be everywhere in the lakes these days. Good pub food, great real ale and a locals music night on wednesday. Why bother staying a best western or similar when you can get the real lakes experience here

After abandoning my car in a flood that can only be compared to a lake, my friends and I found ourselves stranded in the middle of the Lake District with no signal, internet or means of shelter. What started as a disastrous and stressful day, turned into a brilliant 24 hours, thanks to the staff at the Old Dungeon Ghyll...

This is a great place to come back to after a day on the fells. Hearty food, great beer and service with good humour. After torrential rain we were stranded here and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.

I popped into this hotel as I was awaiting the arrival of my tour guide for walking crinkle crags. I arrived early and was looking to have some breakfast. I walked back to my car and was then approached that I could only park in their carpark for breakfast and would have to move to the carpark over the road...

Have stayed at the ODGin the past and very happy. This review relates to the pub only. Great atmosphere and always a great place to visit at the end of a long hard day in the hills. Good quality beers and huge selection. Good bar food and big portions. Nothing but praise for this unpretentious pub.

This legendary Lakes gem is not what it was. Climbers Bar prices are outrageous and staff are gobby and indifferent to their customers. This place is quite capable of spoiling the end of a great day on the hills. I speak as a customer of 40 years. Now an ex customer.

I stayed one night for a mini walking hol and it was great. Location and views are amazing and is perfect for walks. Staff where friendly and bigger rooms were available when I arrived so I was upgraded. Room was cute and comfortable. Would recommend the packed lunch if you're out for a long time. Definitely planning on going back.

Always stop here for a beer when walking in Langdale. It has great beers and a fun atmosphere. Love it! There are always plenty of walkers in, dogs welcome and staff are good. Nice food too. Children are very welcome and sitting outside is nice. Cosy in the winter months.
