Arrived late evening to deer running out of the garden. Rooms are small, but beautifully decorated and you only sleep there it doesn't spoil your stay. Breakfast is plentiful with lots of choice even for vegetarians and it's gorgeous and fresh. Owners are very friendly and helpful I will definitely stay there next time I visit.

Really tiny room. Bed was not great quality. Bathroom was also too small. Breakfast really nice and nice owners. Lovely views from the breakfast room. Good car parking and location. We did not sleep very well at all but we got to have a night away.

Excellent stay, excellent hosts, excellent location. Arrived after an afternoon drive after checking in we left the car in the car park and had a short walk from the B&B to the lake at Waterhead. Another quick walk up into the town for dinner. Following an excellent nights sleep an excellent breakfast leaving enough time before check out to have...

Went to meet friends for a meal Saturday night in Ambleside. Rothay House was a great budget choice, with excellent parking and close to town. A warm welcome from Darren and warm, clean accommodation but a little on the small side but manageable. Breakfast was perfect, good produce cooked to a high standard and nothing was too much trouble. Would...

We just got back a couple of hours ago but can't wait to leave a review for Debbie and Darren at Rothay House. What a lovely, clean & comfortable b & b. Breakfast with lots of choice, freshly prepared and cooked beautifully. Very friendly without being over the top, so very relaxing. We will return.

We knew going in to the weekend that we would be given the small room- but that didn't spoil our 2 days at all!! The location is incredible. It's so close to the town centre and the parking was great. The breakfast is delicious and the beds lovely and cosy. We had a lovely weekend. Thank you

We enjoyed a night here in September, we found the location very good, great for going out at night and very practical for leaving the car in the car park and seeing the sights around Ambleside. Our room was small but very well equipped, bathroom excellent. We really enjoyed our sleep, not disturbed by other guests or traffic noise. Breakfast...

We stayed at the B&B only one night but we really appreciated the location of the place within Ambleside, the wide car park, the helpful approach of the owner: all of this made a big difference as we needed to do stuff in a short time. The owner seemed to be busy as well, so unfortunately we could not experience...

This was our second visit to this good value B&B, clean with all you need, good breakfasts and helpful hosts. There is on-site parking (not the case with many Ambleside B&Bs), yet the location is handy for the centre of town.

My girlfriend and I booked Rothay as it was a good budget option for a short weekend away. Upon booking we already knew we had the last room available (the smallest) so we can't gripe on the room size as we knew what we were getting. The B&B itself was great, a highlight being the owners. Upon arrival a little...
