Well located close to the city centre and the Hull Royal Infirmary. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff are efficient and helpful. This is a good budget hotel, best suited for business travellers on limited expenses. Rooms at the front can be noisy due to noisy locals and the ambulances heading to the hospital.

The hotel was easily located and the free parking was a bonus. There were only a few parking slots so first come first first. The city center could easily be explored on foot. The check-in was smooth and I was given a free upgrade which was much appreciated. Even though it faced the main road, I didn't have to put...

So by far and away this place is the cheapest place to stay in the centre of Hull. And people willingly book on that basis. Yet moan about what they pay for. Eh? A night in a single room cost me less than £40, and that's on a matchday. Clean, functional, and everything that's meant to work does. Big appreciation...

It's central, it's clean and the staff were lovely. The room had been very recently refurbished, so I don't have any complaints. The young guy on reception was particularly helpful, so I'd recommend the place.

I knew this was a cheap hotel before I visited Hull, but I did not appreciate just how 'down at heel' it was until I stayed here. The good thing is that it is situated about 5 minutes brisk walk from the city's main Paragon railway station. The Gilson is an ugly, grey edifice of a place, a totally unsympathetic...

- Initial impressions were that the place looked a little tired & dated + the room was very clean & smart - had a lot of noise with neighbours being a little noisy, but mostly one neighbour struggling with getting into her room (a problem with her key card) + only £45 + staff could not have been more helpful....

I hesitated on how to rate this hotel. In its price range it deserves a rating of "Excellent". The service is good and friendly and the rooms are a decent size. So why only "Average"? The hotel is a bit tired and could do with a make over. The location is great, but on the other hand it is a...

The hotel is right in town close to all amenities and visitor attractions so was great for our weekend away. Rooms are large- but basic. ie no carpet but lino instead. Very warm- you can manually adjust heating to suit. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Free WiFi throughout. Was able to leave bags on the last day before catching...

We managed to park outside because we arrived early. The room was quite large and definitely worth the money considering it is a central city location. The cook made a nice evening meal but the breakfast had to be cancelled due to the cook calling in sick. I would definitely consider staying again in the future.
