I thoroughly enjoyed my sherry and port wine tasting evening with the wise and wonderful Sommelier Victor Amaro. I am looking forward to his Champagne Brunch on 4th February with an opportunity to experience the exciting and dramatic art of Sabrage.

Just brilliant.. a regular routine of wine tastings and fine wine dinners led by resident sommelier Victor Amaro. A great opportunity to get together with friends. Stunning hotel with great ambience. Grade 2 listed building with beautiful grounds and top notch menu..

We went to the Hotel de Vin Bistro on a Monday evening to celebrate a birthday. It has not changed over many years and its formula was familiar although, we understand, its ownership recently changed. It sets out to provide fine dining in a regal setting. The ceilings are high, there are shutters at the windows and the floors are...

Over tired children running around at 8:00 on a Saturday evening, did not get us off to best of starts. A rather pompous sommelier didn't help either. Although we couldn't fault the champagne , wine and Armagnac. The food itself was average. They did make a good job of cooking the fillet steak though. The waiting staff were worth the...

Very nice ambiance and attentive staff. The menu is a little limited and has somewhat become less appealing since the original owners sold out. The food is OK and the wine list has a good cross section of medium to high priced reds and whites. We find the Hotel very comfortable and it is a most pleasant place to stay.

We had a family birthday celebration here. The booking process was shambolic and overly convoluted but once we were actually at the hotel, all of the staff were great, particularly our waiter for the meal itself. We had the four course Sunday brunch and it was all fine, but not as tasty as I was hoping. The food was underseasoned...

This was our second visit to Hotel du Vin and the absolutely delightful receptionist Maria greeted us so warmly and showed us to our charming room the Freixenet which was a very kind upgrade. The room was beautiful and as with this hotel had delightful quirky character. There is a chaise long in the bathroom which was a first for...

Great hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. We had a fantastic breakfast and the omelette Arnold Bennett was delicious! Our bathroom could do with a lick of paint but the shower was powerful and there were nice finishing touches (bathrobes, slippers, Ren toiletries). Mattress was very comfy and I slept really well.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells is set in one of the town's architectural landmarks, a Grade II-listed sandstone mansion built as a private residence in 1762. We have retained its authentic detail carefully, adding our unique touch to the 34 bedrooms with antiques and memorabilia. Guests can enjoy a game of boules, dining on the garden terrace with its wonderful views across Calverley Park, or a wander through the hotel's very own vineyard. BEDROOMS: Housed within this impressive building are 34 timelessly styled bedrooms and stunning suites, all featuring luxurious handsprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linen, deep baths and powerful drench showers, plasma TVs, DVDs and air conditioning. BISTRO: Open all week, and under the tutelage of head chef Daniel McGarey, Bistro du Vin is at the heart of our hotel, a classic, French styled, elegant and informal setting for lunch, dinner, to meet, celebrate or simply pass the time. Dine on the finest produce the Kent has to offer from local heroes such as herbs and seasonal vegetables from local nursery chef's herbs, meat from Woodlands Farm and fish from Chapman's of Sevenoaks. These are only a handful of the suppliers included within our homegrown & local philosophy. ... more   less
