We stayed at the Swingate as a stop over on our way to France, and we are so glad we chose this place. Ok some might say the rooms are a little bit tired and the garden is unkempt, but for thr price of £60 per night we could not fault the room as it was more than adequate the...

The Swingate Inn is easy to find, 2 minutes off the A2 before Dover and 5 minutes from the port. The rooms are a little dated and the whole place is in need of a little TLC. That said the staff were friendly and the room clean and tidy. A budget hotel that fits the bill.... Cheap and close to...

Easy to find and convenient for the ferry. Overnight stop with an early check out for the ferry the following morning. Room was clean if a little basic. Water pressure from the shower was pretty poor. It was at 4am so I guess not many others using the shower to affect it. Bed was OK, mattress needed replacing. Just sunk...

Visited with my wife enroute for the Dover ferry. My favourite dish is lamb kharai and I have ordered this at many restaurants all over the UK. The Swingate's version is well balanced (many restaurants use much too much onion) with plenty of tender lamb and a great sauce. Price? £8.75, almost unbelievable. Total, £44.50 for pompadoms, pickles, a starter,...

This hotel is in a great position. Minutes from the ferry. Should be great, right? Wrong! I stayed here at the beginning of May after a long drive from Scotland. There was no access to food (the restaurant closes at 9.00pm and there's no room service, not even a sandwich!) Grubby room. In desperate need of redecoration. Worn and filthy...

Booked this hotel prior to ferry crossing Great location and very clean room But the Indian restaurant Namaste was superb. Lovely welcome at reception. Excellent service and would recommend this place to anyone staying in Dover. Loved it ! Jean Chinn m.b.e

So handy for the ferry terminal. Very good Indian restaurant with an open kitchen and chefs who are prepared to adjust seasonings (heat) according to taste and also go 'off menu'. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are OK but could do with a refresh as could the exterior. But who visits an inn to sit in the room?

Overnight stop before the ferry, hotel is well positioned for the Ferry Terminal, the main reason for staying here. Room clean but very basic, best bit was the Indian kitchen in the back, curry was OK but as we live in the west Midlands it was always going to be a hard job on the curry side. Quite friendly, only...

It really depends what you are looking for. I have a high rating because the staff are very helpful, courteous, polite, friendly and make you feel welcome. The only downside was the bathroom. The room was large as we had a family room with a double and a single bed. Not all the stations worked on the TV but again...

Being a five minute drive from the ferry's, this place should be a little gold mine and from the outside it looks like a traditional pub, inside it's far from it. The restaurant is Indian cusine and is well decorated. We didn't eat there if only because we'd had a curry the night before. The problem is the whole hotel...
