We stayed at this hotel for two nights during the Easter holidays.Check in was very quick and efficient and we stayed in the Wisteria room. Our room had a quirky, slanted floor which added to the hotel's charm. The bed was soft and comfortable and the shared bathroom was spotlessly clean. We had a really good night's sleep both nights;...

This hotel is a gem and for me the ultimate place to stay in Canterbury. It is right next to the Christ Church (main) gate to the Cathedral and some rooms enjoy a view of the cathedral. It's a 30 second walk to the main high street and the vast majority of attractions are weighing a 5 minute walk. The...

Atmospheric and delightful, worthy of a pilgrimage. I had a small single room (Dawn) on the top floor looking directly over the Cathedral precinct. Excellent location, friendly staff, adequate breakfast brought to the room, and a very reasonable price.

I really do feel guilty at giving this place only four stars, but there are short comings which simply can not be ignored in any review. So lets get the not so good things out of the way first. The hotel is run from a C15 timber framed house and so of course has to contend with a 400 year...

In a central position, within walking distance of all amenities. We loved the higgledypiggledy and quirky character of the hotel. Our room was on the back, with views across the roof tops into Cathedral Close and extremely quiet. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, although the en-suite shower room was very small. The breakfast was plentiful and hotel...

We stayed at the Cathedral Gate hotel on 25th March. It is literally next door to the entrance to the cathedral grounds. It dates back to the 1400s so it is somewhat quirky. We had a double room with en suite bathroom at the front of the hotel overlooking Burgate, and to get to the room involved a couple of...

Stayed here for one night for my gfs birthday last year (only just got around to leaving a review). As soon as we arrived the service was second to none, the lady on the desk was very polite and helpful and showed us to our room. The room had been newly renovated and was very stylish and importantly very clean....

Courteous staff. Comfy room. Not tried breakfast yet, but on first impressions, this is a hotel of quirky charm and character. Only here for a few nights but so glad I have made the right choice in the centre of 'Olde' Canterbury!

Pleasant hotel looking out on to Butter Market. Welcoming staff. Room was ready early when we arrived at 2pm on Saturday. 15 minute walk from Canterbury West station. Back has close view of cathedral. Good value 3* hotel. Good breakfast on Sunday. Our room was a bit warm on first floor and we had to open window which meant some...

The Cathedral Gate Hotel - where I've stayed several times over the past six years - occupies a prime position right in the centre of this attractive provincial city, literally next door to the Medieval Gatehouse of the world-famous Mother Church of the worldwide Anglican Communion. The entrance could be difficult to spot, as the doorway is next door at...
