The landlord Mark was a total gent and could not do anymore to make our stay any better. Staying in such an old building was a pleasure as there were architectural wonders around every corner. Jen was the best barmaid ever and Sue cooked us a wonderful full English breakfast exactly as we had bespokely requested. Can't rave about this...

We attended the weekly quiz at the King's Head on Wednesday and, as ever, had a great evening out at this friendly pub. Mark is a great host and is always looking out for his customers. Always a warm welcome - a proper local!

Mark, the landlord, agreed to hold a quiz night ( in addition to the usual one on Wednesdays) as a fund raiser for my daughters marathon run.It was a tremendous evening raising a lot of money for a worthy charity. Thank you Mark for your generosity and enthusiastic welcome.

We stayed for 3 nights at this lovely 15th century inn. The owner Mark was very welcoming and we were able to check in at 12.00, which was really helpful. Our room was small, due to the restrictions of being a listed building but was clean, comfortable and had all the necessities. The public bar was friendly and sociable. We had...

I visited the Kings Head for a traditional Sunday lunch. The broccoli and stilton soup was delicious and a generous portion size which was then followed by a perfectly cooked roast beef with all the trimmings and a treacle sponge pudding with custard. Everyone at the Kings Head are friendly and more than willing to help cater for each person...

Wonderful stay. Arrived late after lectures and David and his team made sure they kept space for my car on the premises and got me settled. While there was music playing in the bar it did not affect me in my room. My double room was really comfortable - the bed was comfortable and bedding was lovely. beautiful old room...

Four of us had an excellent, delicious meal last night at my local pub. The new chef is producing some really tasty, quality food at a reasonable price and I would definitely recommend it. We chatted to the chef who seems really passionate about using fresh ingredients and taking time with homemade dishes and sauces/gravy. Three of us had liver and...

The King's Head is a beautiful, traditional English inn dating from the 15th Century. We pride ourselves in being a privately owned, free house serving quality ales & food in convivial surroundings. Guests are made to feel at home by our friendly staff & regular bar clientele. We are very proud that so many visitors choose to return again & again, mainly, we think, due to the warm welcome they receive as 'locals', even though they may live hundreds or thousands of miles away! ... more   less
