owners took over a few years ago, a lot of work has been done to improve the place by the looks of it, friendly staff, good food. close to the train station and hospital. based in the city center so easily accessible to everything.

Hotel doesn't look like much on the outside, and is quite dated on the inside. Felt a little bit like my Nan's house. But it was clean, the room was warm and heating was sufficient (unlike previous reviewers experiences it seems!). Bed wasn't all that but it was adequate and it had a tv. Shower was nice and warm, and...

All I ask, as I am sure most hotel guests would, is to pay for a clean and comfortable place to stay with a modicum of thanks and appreciation for choosing to pay and stay at the hotel. Not at the Merton, the demand for payment proceeded any welcome, felt nothing more than inconvenience which had to be dealt with...

We were left caught out in Hereford on a Saturday night and the Merton was the last place with rooms close to the city centre, so thought it was worth a go. The room was adequate however upon returning from an evening out, the key to the hotel's front door instantly snapped in the lock (no we weren't intoxicated!). The...

Stayed for 1 night. Room was basic but clean bathroom had a lovely long bath Owners say they are currently renovating the property. Had intended to have a drink in the bar before going to our room but when we arrived back at 9.30 it was closed. Breakfast was made to order. Would stay again

A small disaster elsewhere resulted in us needing a hotel in Hereford at short notice and this one fitted us in. It was probably okay in the 1970s when it was last decorated but it's now just grim. Dated, smelly, really unfriendly, with a list of rules for their staff on display in reception which made me feel that I...

Stayed here with a number of other family members on Saturday 16th July. I stayed in Room 5 which was very tired and far too stuffy and warm and I wasn't happy about dirty marks on the bedding. That said the price is reasonable, the breakfast was ok and the location is good however the guy on Reception was rude...

We stayed 2 nights for a nearby wedding and so were looking for somewhere inexpensive in a convenient location. It's only 5 minutes' walk from the train station and although it's on a main road and our room was at the front of the building, we didn't find the traffic noise too troublesome. The room itself was clean and comfortable...
