Very near to the cathedral with handy access to the Christmas market this hotel provides an excellent venue for a lunch with friends. On busy days for a table in the restaurant it would be advisable to book. Service was superb and efficient. Meals were quite substantial and the starters would be quite sufficient for a light lunch. We enjoyed... More

The Old Vine used to be one of my husband's and my haunts when we lived in Winchester nine years ago. It's nice to know that, in an uncertain world, some things don't change. The quality of the food here is still excellent, the service is still top notch and the surroundings are still beautiful being historic and overlooking the... More

We stayed in the annex building at the old vine for 2 nights and had such a brilliant time. With my brother graduating at the cathedral we couldn't have been in a better location! We had dinner in the pub on the first night which was absolutely delicious and we had breakfast there both morning which was very nice as... More

Located as close to the cathedral as you can get, a 2-minute walk to the High Street for shopping, people watching and restaurants, you'd be hard pressed to find a better location for visiting Winchester. The restaurant and the bar are very quaint and have old beamed ceilings that go along with the attractive old English look of the outside... More

Thanks very much for your feedback, we appreciate you taking the time to post your comments. The Annexe is best for a couple with children, rather than all adults. As we specify on the website description there is a double bed and a single bed, and then after that we can set up an additional foldaway bed in the second... More

We spent three nights at the Old Vine in August and absolutely loved it! Beautiful rooms (we stayed in the Osbourne and Little room), great food, a comfortable and inviting bar and very friendly staff. And you can't beat the location, right next to the cathedral. We travel a lot and this ranks right up there with one of our... More

I emailed to see if a reservation was required for a Saturday lunchtime and it was a good job we booked it! The staff were excellent and the menu was quite basic pub fayre but it was really tasty and even though they were busy we didn't have to wait long. Next time we're in Winchester we will go back!

We spent a night here for my husband's birthday. From the moment we arrived we were looked after. From parking the car, to carrying bags which were heavy and a beautiful three course meal for dinner as well. Perfectly situated opposite the Cathedral and it was around the corner from the main street. We spent the morning taking a tour... More

Went to the cathedral for evensong then looked for somewhere to eat. The Old Vine is just as you leave the cathedral grounds and looks very pleasant and welcoming. We were not disappointed. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu is not overwhelming but has a reasonable choice for all including our two vegetarians. Food came quickly and was... More

One of the best ways of seeing the English at their best is to stay at a Bed and Breakfast and visit various other cafes, restaurants for meals. At Winchester, an ancient capital in the days of King Alfred, it's all so English, you keep expecting Jane Austen to walk in the front door. We stayed at Fizzy and Guy... More

This pub/restaurant at the end of the cathedral close in Winchester never fails to impress. My friend and I had a light bite lunch today. classified as a starter but I certainly couldn't have eaten a main course after it!
