Pretty standard, what you'd expect for staying at a pub. Bed had a dip in it so I was pretty much forced to sleep on one side and felt like I was falling or leaning into my girlfriend. You can easily hear guests in the corridor and at one point a door slammed so loudly it felt like it was...

My business partner and I like to go out and treat ourselves to a nice Xmas lunch before Xmas. We decided to give it a go at the white star as love the feel of the place. We were required to book in advance the day before and choose our food. When we arrived we were the only guest in...

I visited here for an office Christmas lunch. Despite knowing that c50 people would appear for lunch it didn't seem to occur to them to put on extra bar staff so service was initially slow. However, once we sat for food, all was forgotten. The food was spectacular. Smoked haddock starter was particularly delicious. Christmas pudding was exactly the right...

Bit of a strange one this. Reviews led me to expect more somehow. The rooms themselves were nice, no issues at all, bar that we were there during a very warm spell and the rooms had no central heating. If that sounds a tad precious, let me add that this was the hottest hotel room I've been in ever. Even...

We have just returned from a two night stay and had very little sleep and paid a handsome rate for the privilege. We knew we had booked to stay above a pub in a popular area and expected a certain amount of external, uncontrollable noise. What we didn't realise that it was rooms directly above a busy bar with a...

We came to Southampton for Christmas Shopping which was good but unfortunately the White Star Tavern was not as good. The rooms and decor are nice although a little small. The main problem we found was it is very busy and very noisy. We stayed on a Saturday night and the bar was packed, the street outside noisy and the...

Myself and friends visited the White Star on Saturday evening for a meal. We had the limoncello prosecco cocktails when we arrived and they were incredible! We were seated in the restaurant area which was extremely loud due to the bar being packed full because of the football. Appreciate it's not normally this busy, however it did take away the...

Not a bad place, good food and reasonable beer. Decor is good and staff friendly, visit normally on business as not to frame from ocean quay. Tends to be the the go to venue for business meets in the area, is a little pricey however

Just come back from a business trip after spending two nights in this hotel. The rooms are beautifully done and you can tell you are as far away from a chain hotel as possible! The breakfast was lovely too. Really tasty and big portions all freshly cooked. Only slight down side was the beautiful original sash windows meant it was...

Enjoyed a rendez-vous drink/meal at the White Star, was lovely albeit minor issues of table not clean etc. The food and hot beverages were good, as was the service provided, and the cost turned-out to be fine !
